Yesterday, the Congressional Progressive Caucus released what it calls The People's Budget, which insists it would eliminate the deficit by 2021 by eliminating the Bush tax cuts, creating "fair tax brackets for millionaires and billionaires while
maintaining credits for the middle class and students" and bringing home the troops "because these wars are making America less
safe, are reducing America's standing in the world, and are doing nothing to reduce America's
burgeoning energy security crisis." At the same time, the Democrats' proposal would create a new-jobs program and invest in, among other things, public education, housing initiatives and an infrastructure overhaul.
Which is how Dallas Democrat Eddie Bernice Johnson wound up on FOX News yesterday -- to discuss the plan with Neil Cavuto, since, after all, she's among the 80 members making up the caucus. But EBJ didn't have much of a discussion with Cavuto; as Huffington Post puts it, theirs was, at best, a "fiery debate." Which is a nice way of putting it. See for yourself on the other side. The takeaway: "When you refuse to have vision, you're already in hell." So jump already -- there's a scholarship waiting for you on the other side.
Although, as most people know, Eddie Bernice Johnson is an unethical moron, this posting actually made me like somewhat. I had assumed she had essentially abandoned representing any principles (as well as her district), and was just going to run out her remaining time in office operating very petty schemes to line her pockets (since she is apparently untouchable).
It's nice to know she at least goes through the motions of acting like she's doing something (though I don't doubt she's still got her snout firmly inserted in the trough).
It always makes me chuckle when I hear a staunch conservative make a plea on behalf of the children. In other news...We really should ask for more cash from China on the basis that without us they wouldn't even have the economy they now do. We are the ones who opened up their business sector with the help of our Corporate CEOs. I really don't get why people think we're indebted to China, when it's quite obvious, it's the other way around.
Cavuto is a lying hack on a network full of lying hacks, I can't believe that people think Fox News has anything of value to add to the national discourse.
Fox is not winning, really. They had to get rid of the 3rd most popular show on cable (Glenn Beck) because they are starting to look less and less like a news organization. Just because you have half of the country's redneck population watching doesn't mean you are winning.
Right and I don't know what you find funny about that, it's sad and disgusting that most watched news network has the most poorly informed viewers because it openly lies and intentionally distorts the truth.
Neither of them could get away from their prepared talking points, Cavuto with his "we're broke" thing and EBJ with her "vision" thing, and therefore produced a meaningless discussion. However, it does look therapeutic to yell at somebody on television, so they've got that going for them, which is nice. Kind of a "Primal Scream-at-Neil-Cavuto Therapy" that I think has real promise in the mental health arena...
The pic before you push the "play" button says it all, both of these people walk around with their eyes closed. Both are tired hacks and putting them together at the same time is a waste. Caveat is a worm and Johnson is an opportunist of the poor. Screw them both.
