The latest round of contract negotiations is going to be brutal. The alternative to an agreement is bankruptcy, though, is that really where folks want this to go? AA did not go the route that other airlines went years ago and file for bankruptcy. They asked for help in terms of wage cuts from the folks so that they could basically keep things the same. What happened to the employees of the airlines that filed bankruptcy? Wages *and* headcounts were cut. AA is one of only a few American airlines that does its own maintenance, the others have outsourced it to South America. The maintenance area recently lost a large contract for repair of other airline's aircraft because they would not, NOT could not, would not turn the aircraft around without more overtime. Gotta watch that shootin' yourself in the foot.

Beyond belief is an understatement, shld sub-title =Only in America=, cut ALL employee wage's up to %33, add %40 higher work load due to hand's on employee cutbacks and/or NOT re-filling positions due to attrition, job elimination or transfer's, Posting dramatic yearly earning's LOSS"S and the topper is rewarding themselves, [ALL of upper management staff ONLY] with astronomical bonus"s, and all in the midst of labor contract negotiations, this type activity should not just be morally wrong but simply illegal, reminds me of the 70's steel dumping and now having USA's steel industry provided by foreign companies, where is government when you really need them?,?, go figure, as long as the lobbyist are paid and tax's are up to date, guess that's good enough, [gag] AA's work force has been reduced to yearly earnings mimicking the late 1980's yet these select few individual's approx 55 people; upper mngt staff are raping the system, Public perception is uninformed, no career employee wish's to be perceived as doing a bad or substandard job, hard for anyone living thru these work environment conditions to eat the shiot sandwich with needy, demanding passengers and still remain professionally composed, when you have just lost your house, killed the kids college fund, had your car repossessed, and/or recently filed for bankruptcy.......that about does it, going to go throw up now, cant wait to see the high school locker room comments from this post......lol

No Ricky, I won't think about it. I will not for one simple reason. I pay very high ticket prices, so that I don't have to think about it. The praise you are looking for should come from your management team. You are essentialy saying, "instead of worrying about the fact that we're rude to you while taking very large amounts of your money, you should just be grateful that we aren't killing you". I disagree.

Nice. Because the employees, whose families depend on a paycheck and follow the corporate policies,can easliy find work elsewhere!?! Maybe their are some that our sour, but there are many more that want to see the future of AA survive. I guess fewer airlines would be better if you do not like choices,right?

My girls do not need the medical and dental coverage, right? There is more to an airline shutting down than planes not flying!

How is the situation you are describing unique? Every adult with kids face these challenges. If the company you work for treats you like garbage, the respectable thing to do is to go work for another company - not treat customers like garbage.

Gee, you could never tell the AA flight attendants were pissed by the way they yell at passengers, hide in the galley during most of a flight, ignore call buttons being rung, forget to serve drinks, arbitrarily demand bags be checked, and disappear up the jet-way when the cabin door opens at the end of a flight. I thought it was all of the AA 'passengers are to be treated as cattle' customer relations program that they run so well.

First of all, flight attendants don't "hide" in the galley - that is their space, after the service is completed. I don't think you would appreciate having them sit in the aisles and in your way. Second, call buttons are meant for emergencies - not neediness.

@Kim -- I used to think it was me until one flight the flight attendant went ballistic on a woman two rows in front of me who kept the iPod ear buds in her ears though the iPod was not only shut off bus disconnected from the ear buds. Or the elderly man on my flight last week who ripped a new one 'cause he could not help another passenger put a bag in an over head bin because he was not strong enough to lift the bag despite the Schutlz level screen spewing from the flight attendant.
