What Does It Look Like to Walk Through a Room Filled With Nothing But Orange Balloons?

Categories: Arts

Friday night, at the Arts Magnet fund-raiser, two friends used their phones to show off their oh-lucky-me early looks at Martin Creed's Work No. 1190: Half the air in a given space -- otherwise known as that room full of balloons you see above. It officially took up residency in the Lower Level Gallery of the Nasher Sculpture Center on Saturday, and we tried all weekend to make it over; the 7-year-old who lives in my house opted instead for a paddle-boat ride on the Fair Park lagoon. Beside, there's time -- it's there through June 19. Pop art. Boom.

Walking through this room filled with balloons seems fun to do. I wonder if what could be the feeling doing a walk inside this room. It seems that those people who had entered the room had enjoyed.

Simple Chronic Halitosis, in a balloon. Why not fart inflated balloons, pop them at your own sufferance.

Teresa Patterson and her crew do great work (and rarely get any credit for it) and this appears to be no exception.

These exhibitions make me think that Plato had a point regarding art.

That looks like an inordinate amount of fun. I'm now off to calculate how many balloons it would take to fill my apartment...

The story on your editor leaving sure went away fast. Perhaps the new editor will make this weekly a more balanced read by adding differing voices/perspectives to the mix (?).

Coleman

by "a more balanced read," Kstein means more Tea Party coverage and mouthbreathing conservative bullshit.

Mark's resignation notice is a few items below this one. Not sure I understand your point. We do update frequently, after all. But, indeed, given the myriad departures in recent weeks, no doubt we'll have MANY different voices and perspectives forthcoming. A warm body or two would be nice.

The Gotcha is the Post it self. Who would have thunk Kstein's post belonged here ?

Well, see, that was Mark's beat ... and now he's gone.

Thanks for the info., Robert.

Coleman and ericthegardener: (i) My post wasn't a "gotcha," it was question. (ii) What's wrong with different perspectives? Do they frighten you? If your point of view is superior, you ought to welcome any and all dissent, that way others will see just how much more sensible your view is. (iii) Why are you two so hostile? (iv) How do you know I'm a Tea Partier, conservative, etc.? Are you both psychic? If so, run a diagnostic your "powers," they're not doing so well today.

I didn't say you were a Tea-Partier. I just said you were an idiot.
