Say, Let's Meet at the Lily Pad Today

mainstreetgarden.jpg
Tuesday evening, Mayor Dwaine's not-quite-chief-of-staff Chris Heinbaugh sent word: At 2:30 today, Caraway, council member Ron Natinsky, Grand Ricchi's Leobardo Trevino, Arts District exec director Veletta Lill and Downtown Dallas Inc.'s CEO John Crawford will gather for a press conference to discuss "the future of the historic Statler Hilton Hotel, the old Dallas Central Library and the impact on Downtown Dallas." Because, as you know, Trevino snapped up the Statler and library for $17.5 million last week, and intends to "make it look like it did in 1956."

Interested downtown denizens with a few moments to spare might want to make it out for the presser; it's supposed to be a postcard-perfect 70 degrees at kick-off, after all. And the press conference will take place in Main Street Garden, right in front of the Lily Pad Café. A great day for a beer and a hot dog and a show.

Doomed...Trevino way overpaid for those two buildings and how he intends to make the numbers work God only knows. I say write-off...

A parade down main street followed by giving him the keys to the city would be more fitting.

Make it look like it did in 1956? Wasn't the whole world black and white back then?
