Tuesday evening, Mayor Dwaine's not-quite-chief-of-staff Chris Heinbaugh sent word: At 2:30 today, Caraway, council member Ron Natinsky, Grand Ricchi's Leobardo Trevino, Arts District exec director Veletta Lill and Downtown Dallas Inc.'s CEO John Crawford will gather for a press conference to discuss "the future of the historic Statler Hilton Hotel, the old Dallas Central Library and the impact on Downtown Dallas." Because, as you know
, Trevino snapped up the Statler and library for $17.5 million last week, and intends to "make it look like it did in 1956."
Interested downtown denizens with a few moments to spare might want to make it out for the presser; it's supposed to be a postcard-perfect 70 degrees at kick-off, after all. And the press conference will take place in Main Street Garden
, right in front of the Lily Pad Café. A great day for a beer and a hot dog and a show.
