The U.S. Attorney's Office just sent word: This morning, FBI agents arrested John David McAllister, a sergeant with the Mesquite Police Department -- and the head of its four-man Narcotics Unit. Says the release, back in December the feds got a tip that McAllister was skimming off the top during the execution of search warrants, and the FBI promptly launched an investigation -- which led to an undercover sting carried out on Tuesday.

According to an FBI special agent's affidavit, which follows in full, the feds gathered up $100,000 in 52 separate bundles, each photographed and photocopied. At which point an FBI hopped in an a car equipped with video recording equipment and drove to meet with McAllister and his partner. McAllister, says the feds, found the dough in the car, stashed in a duffel bag and a separate plastic bag. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office release: "Sgt. McAllister transported the undercover vehicle and the cash to the MPD; video recordings captured him placing his hand into the bag of currency and taking one of the bundles of currency from the plastic bag and stashing it in his pants."

Allege the feds, when McAllister got back to MPD HQ, $2,000 was had gone missing. At which point, the feds say they watched McAllister drive to Town East Mall -- specifically, the Buckle inside, where he dropped $480, the serial numbers of the bills matching those of the stolen dough. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, he bought a watch.

If McAllister's found guilty, he faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. mcallister_complaint-1

He has tarnished the badge and deserves what he gets. What a waste of a career. Now the honest officers of the MPD will fall under scrutiny because of this moron's actions. How many criminals will have their cases dropped due to his actions. Thanks to the tipster and the FBI who put this criminal where he belongs.

I was under the impression that being a police officer put you above the law.

Or is that only the case in Denton County (where the Denton County D.A. refused to bring perjury charges against Dallas PD Officer Robert Powell after his sworn testimony was proven to be false by his own voice on his dashcam recording).

Not the first time McAllister has been part of "dirty dealings" within the City of Mesquite.

Damn, fool didn't even bother putting it in the bank, just went and spent it like a true klepto.

Of course, if he had stolen it and put it into the department coffee fund, that would be "asset forfeiture", not "theft", and he would get a promotion. Looks to me like the FBI just didn't want competition.

I'm sure both the honest MPD officers will be fine.

McCallister obtained multiple false confessions from people. He even got a kid who didnt read or write english to sign a confession that wasnt true. Hez been dirty for a long time. He would also obtain warrents dishonely. His buddies arrested a U.S. Marine on a traffic stop and found military equipment. He then had the balls to call his unit and say your Marine has stollen gear. Well that gear was serialized and issued to that Marine. He is the perfect poster child for Mesquite Police. He needs to be placed into GENERAL population in prison. He failed to protect us why should we protect him. Hes man enough to place other police officers in jail for the same thing he did when he was internal affairs, he should be man enough to face every one in prison. McCallister has played god to long. The real god just checked your ASS you wannabe VICK MACKY! Have FUN at club FED. SGT. MACDADDY! ( That was his nick name.)
