Dallas International Film Festival Releases Full List of Titles, To Fete Director Steve James

​The South by Southwest Film Festival is still underway down in Austin; awards won't even be doled out till tomorrow night. But moments ago, the Dallas International Film Festival -- which has already named a few films, not to mention Star Award recipient Ann-Margret -- released its complete list of titles in advance of its March 31 opening night, with previously announced Being Elmo: A Puppeteer's Journey (a Sundance and SXSW screener) down as the kick-off film. And Hoop Dreams's director Steve James will also come to town to get a Star Award, as well as screen his film The Interrupters.

The full list follows, and for locals, notable among the titles is, as expected, Clay Liford's shot-at-Garland High WUSS, a pitch-black comedy(ish) about a teacher who exacts his revenge upon a student who bullies him that had its world premiere in Austin over the weekend. Also playing the fest: the Russell Brand-starring remake of Arthur, Ironclad with Paul Giamatti, Miranda July's well-received The Future, Morgan Spurlock's The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, docs about Norman Mailer and The New York Times and John Mellencamp, and ... I called WUSS at DIFF like 2 press releases ago. Knew there wasn't anything super special going on about it. Festival programmers promise and lie like crazy. Still gotta see it for the cameo-ish part of Buster Bluth (if what I'm hearing is true about size).
