Billy MacLeod Upset Over Pauline Medrano's Ties to Polling Location, Election Judge

• Okay this is a little late being we are in October.  You say you are fully employed at JB Mikel & Assoicates.  The only thing that proves is your character my dear.  JB Mikel is one of the most dishonest, unethical, vulgar and fraudulent collections company out there today.  In fact, the have an "F" rating with the Better Business Bureau and presently several ongoing police investigations for many things and one being theft, automatically withdrawing money from customer's accounts without consent or notice of any kind. Billy MacLeoud, that makes you no better than the Medrano's "Dynasty"..  You represent a firm who is no better than the Medrano's.  Get off your high horse and don't be a hypocrite. 

• I want every one to take note of this guy. Mr.Lovuolo works for a Medrano. He will be a vote counter in the election. He says he wouldn't vote for someone who doesn't know basic election law, yet here is an election judge campaigning against a candidate. This is a clear ethics of office violation. He should recuse himself from his office as should all the Medrano employees who are involved in this election. There are State prosecutors and Federal Investigators chomping at the bit for this election. This time if They pull their usual tricks, and they will, they will be prosecuted and sued to the full extent. Remember this name, Mike Lovoulo, youre gonna see it again.

• Meredith, I would take your comments more seriously if you actually knew what your were talking about. Ms. Medrano does know her community very well. She consistently participates in neighborhood clean-ups (actually out there doing the work!) and attends crime watch meetings and other meetings throughout the community. I like, Mike, have seen her working in the community with all types of people. She is in touch with her community and brings awareness to issues that relate not just to her district but also to the city as a whole. I am sorry that you are not willing to step back and realize that Ms. Medrano is a big part of what is going on in the district. She is a very nice person and has not stooped to your level and has not called Billy corrupt, inept or just plain uninformed. She keeps moving and trying to do the best that she can. I appreciate all that Ms. Medrano does for her community from working hard to clean up the district from illegal dumping, graffiti, street light outages, loose dogs, etc. She is a neighbor who takes care of the neighborhood and I am very proud to say that she is our councilwoman.

• Hi Mike, I am using my real name as well. And let's get real. Pauline Medrano is corrupt, which is a shame. A shame because I have met her and find her to be a very nice lady. However, her actions and her lack of knowledge have hurt the people she is suppose to serve. Billy is committed to being a public servant. He wants fair and free elections. How would Pauline feel if the poll location were MacLeod elementary? What is a shame is she will not even take a stand against the corruption that surrounds her and that she has been found to already have committed. It is a shame that you cannot see all this. Or maybe you do see it but chose to turn a blind eye. As for Billy's dedication to the community..Last night he was the master of ceremonies at a charitable event which brought together over 100 local Dallas artists. He consistently reaches out to all areas of the community to give a voice to issues that the incumbent doesn't even take the time to know her own residents. Pauline has not the ability or desire to try and put in the work to be a public servant or an effective leader. The few events she does appear at, she leaves early or doesn't even make an effort to show up or try to access real people. She makes no effort to go on the record about her issues or have a platform to get re-elected on. Let's get real Mike, you don't like Billy. That is okay. You don't have to vote for him. But as an election judge I would hope you could see how free and fair elections go beyond liking Billy or not liking him. It has to do with freedom and democracy. No need to be afraid of the truth. The truth is that your story about Billy is so conveluted and wrong it barely deserves a response. Even... even if it were true..the fact remains that Pauline Medrano consistently fails her duties and responsibilities as a public official and it is time for change. The tricks that have helped her win in the past are exposed and indictments continue to come in..Billy doesn't need to be a poll watcher, he has the eyes of the city on this election. It could be a perfect opportunity for Pauline to step up and make the right decision to move the polling location. But you and I both know she won't. She doesn't have the strength of character to do the right thing. Thankfully, Billy does.

• Mr MacLeod. I find it quite puzzling that you continue to try to win a seat on the City Council by looking for ways to bash the incumbent, Ms Medrano, as opposed to getting involved in public service and working your campaign as it should be done. I for one wouldn't vote for a candidate who doesn't know simple election rules. If you remember during the last election, as an election judge I had to call the police to have you removed from a polling location that you don't vote in because you were sitting outside the polling room. Not knowing that signs shouldn't be put up more than 60 days before the election as yours were and many of them in spots they aren't allowed (State highways for one). Of course, signs don't vote people vote. You then wanted to file a complaint against me because I wrote an editorial to the newspaper about why Pauline should be elected, which in your opinion meant I shouldn't be an election judge. John Loza isn't running Pauline's campaign, and neither am I. We're just two of many many people in the district that know how well served the district has been over the past 6 years and want it to continue during what may be the worst two years for budgets. The school is named Medrano for a very good reason, and if you don't know why maybe you should read up on the history of the Medrano family and what they have accomplished since her family immigrated. It's like saying that a Kennedy shouldn't be able to do anything in a building named after another family member. I would suggest that if you want to get really serious about serving the city of Dallas that you do it by getting involved in a positive manner instead of spending so much time looking for loopholes and being so damned negative. As usual I will sign my real name to this as opposed to all your friends and supporters who continue to use made up screen names. Public service, to make the world a better place, is something that was instilled into the Medrano name generations ago and I know will continue. Those of us in public service know that we can't please everyone all the time but as long as we try and can make a positive difference in lives then it's worth the effort even when we have to deal with the negativity. I welcome a poll watcher from your campaign on May 14th at my location and I'll show you that the positive and most qualified candidate will win the election fairly and by the rules. You should send one to Medrano elementary as well, I'm sure they will be welcomed with open arms. PS. You're the candidate so you can't be the poll watcher.

• Thank you for the link. I went to your web site and still didn't find the answers to these questions. How much money you raised for your neighborhood association? How much of your professional time and money have you volunteered or donated to the Deep Ellum Association? And on what committee? What have you done for economic development and on what committee did you serve? What have you done for our schools? What have you specifically done for crime? What you done for travel and tourism? What is your experience to market and promote neighborhoods or entertainment districts? There we a lot of links to stories in the press but none of them had anything to do with you. I said early on I was willing to consider you but because you are unwilling to answer these basic questions, why should we trust you, especially since you only put down Ms. Medrano and are not addressing any of the true facts about what has been accomplished? Dallas is the 8th largest city in the United States and we face the biggest challenges in our city's history and need experienced leaders with proven results. It suddenly occurs to me that perhaps this is a publicity stunt for your marketing company? If this is your idea of professional marketing, hopefully real estate developers are taking notice about how not to run a marketing campaign and burn bridges.

• Billy, you know what you are fighting for, your supporters know what you are fighting for. Hold Fast! It is amazing that people can post things like you are engaged to a woman with 4 children and think their comments can be taken serious. I have to giggle about the lack of class of some of these posts. Don't let these crazy posts distract your goal to make District 2 a better place for the residents and the businesses that occupy District 2. I am not in a position to vote in your District but if I was, you know I would be their supporting you. Though I am a family member, I can proudly say honest votes make honest politicians. Reading the latest news in regards to honest votes, all I can say is "go get them"!!

• Don't go there El Rey. When you say things like that, you are saying there are no intelligent, qualified Hispanics that are also homeowners and that is an insult to your own people. And yes, how can someone who doesn't own a home or a business in the neighborhood they are running in, be credible or qualified to negotiate behind the scenes with el capitans of industry on behalf of the district. Billy still hasn't told us what he has accomplished in District 2. How much money has he raised for his neighborhood association? And on what committee? • So only landowners should be able to run for office? Sounds like a backward step for equal representation to me. What if Mr. McLeod buys a square foot of land in District 2? Will you then require him to change jobs and work in District 2 as well? I guess a poll tax is your next requirement... Maybe you can devise a plan for a citizen to only cast 3/5ths of a vote...

• I know it's the nature of the political beast to bash the incumbent but I'd like to hear MORE about what the candidate is proposing to do while in office, not just their opinions on what the incumbent is doing wrong. Come on guys...Slinging mud is the easy part because nobody's perfect. No matter who is elected, that person will fall short of the public's unrealistic expectations. I will say I believe a council person should own property in their district and/or should be publicly active in that district if they are seeking election/re-election. I'm not an open supporter of either candidate because I can't be...but as proper etiquette, I wouldn't go on record here, or in any other print medium, calling your voting public pitiful and disgusting. does not bode well. I realize it was probably directed at a certain individual but it was addressed to 'you guys'. must be careful about things like that.

• Billy should have been smart enough not to go there regarding criminal accusations given his personal circumstances, and because he isn't using good judgment about that, I question his ability about complex problems and issues Dallas faces.

• My apologies, I was told your fiance had four young daughters. Yes, there are wonderful people who rent and vote and they should continue to do so, however, I believe if anyone wants to hold office, the should be invested in our city.

• Dear Tax Paying Citizen. That reference was just a tip of the iceberg of a million things that have been resolved and moved forward since that neighborhood was developed BECAUSE of the players from that neighborhood and the reason there is so much progress today. Have you been over there lately? Walked on the new bridge or have you seen the new development? Gotten familiar with the plans to re-develop West Dallas. Hardly stagnant. In fact, there has been no stagnancy in the Cedars neighborhood either. Look at all the progress that has been accomplished over there in the past 7 years. She's worked really hard with the neighborhood in regards to re-development and also the hospitality industry as it relates to convention business for those businesses and art galleries there and moving towards Deep Ellum. There is nothing wrong with inserting fresh ideas and new people, however, anyone who really has a heart for the district and wants to hold office should be familiar with the accomplishments in the past 50 years and they should own a home. In fact, that should be a basic rule for running for Dallas City Council. For someone who has been arrested on numerous occasions Billy certainly has a lot of nerve accusing anyone of criminal behavior. With his record, can he even vote for himself?

• Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Someone needs to start asking Billy some personal questions about the reality of his living situation. He doesn't seem to own any property in Dallas and is about to marry a woman with several children, which seems very convenient btw, and hasn't stated if they will actually live in Dallas or attend Dallas schools. What woman in her right mind would uproot her children from their suburban home to live in South Side on Lamar. Since he claims his office is in Carrollton, many are starting to question if he even really lives in Dallas. Anyone can have an apartment address. In addition, this district serves the very poorest and the very wealthiest in Dallas and after observing them in public, just can't see Billy or his fiance sitting at the head of the table in either of those neighborhoods in negotiations. Billy would make a very good neighborhood advocate, I'm sure, but anyone who serves our city council, should at the very least be a homeowner.

• I would think someone who has such strong opinions about me would have the courage to use their real name ML. I am proud of the fact that I have the courage to put my name on the ballot. I am proud fight for neighborhoods, families, and business owners who have been either forgotten entirely, targeted specifically, or taxed excessively by my opponent. • I lived in Lowest Greenville area for many years. John Loza did almost nothing for District 2 in the 8yrs he was City Council. Pauline Medrano's campaign promises were great. Problem is she never kept them and every single neighborhood activist, civic leader, etc. I know that is District 2 are all sorely disappointed in Pauline. So, I say, let's give someone else a try. • Anyone who wants to "end the Medrano dynasty", obviously knows absolutely nothing about who the Medrano's are or what the dynasty really is. Pancho Medrano was like the Martin Luther King to Hispanic's in Dallas and everyone else that followed in his footsteps were always "for the people first". I mean it wasn't like Pancho was a State Rep or anything for 30 years, he was a ground worker a true grassroots man, and for you Mr. MacCleod to just say something as outrageous as this is an effing shame and disgrace. If memory serves me correct, Ricardo was elected to school board, Robert was appointed to Park Board under Pauline who has only been elected to Council for 6 years and Adam has been elected to school board for a few years now. I mean come on as far as elected positions which the people elect not the family monarchy, the Medrano's have only been "in power" in politics as you would put it for only about 10 years at the most. Just because you keep getting WAXED, don't go out like Sepulveda...

• Billy's got it wrong in quote in last paragraph. The selection of partisan precinct chairs has no relevance in who serves as election judge in NON-partisan race. Procedure for City election is that the City (via requests by Councilmembers) informs County elec. dept of who they want as judge. But, to get things started the elec. judge provides City with names of the past judge at the prec. which, of course, is the partisan prec. chair. But the City can nix the name off and put in any they choose that qualifies. MacLeod is right as rain to scream foul. This smells to high heaven. What he should do is appoint someone as a poll watcher inside that precinct location. And, he should file ethics violation with Secretary of State, Elections Dept. Even if it is not accepted as violation, it will put them on report.

• Good luck with that... the way Dallas County is wired now, whatever the Medranos want, they can simply take. I look forward to the day when every single member of the Medrano family is awarded the public office of their choosing on their 18th birthday.
