So Filled With T.J. Patriot Pride Right Now. Also: Dallas ISD Releases Make-Up Day Plans.

Here's something else that got lost in the snowdrift: Earlier today, the Dallas Independent School District send word that come Sunday ...
Drill teams from Thomas Jefferson and W.T. White high schools will perform during the Super Bowl XLV halftime show, which will feature the Black Eyed Peas as the headlining act.
TJ's drill team is called the Liberty Belles. W.T. White's? Something.

Also: DISD just announced its plans to make up this week's four long, lost days:
The district plans on using its two designated make-up days on April 22 and May 23, then request a waiver from TEA for the other two days missed this week.
Knew it. When informed of the district's plans, the boy grinned, then said, "Good. Thank you for telling me that."

There's almost universal agreement that Woodrow Wilson Wildcats enjoy high school! Evidence herewith: all the non-Woodrow people and spouses start rolling their eyes and walking away when we get together...

My mother was on the TJ Drill Team when the school first opened in 1957. The drill team was called the Rebs. The football team was called The Rebels and the school song was Dixie.

What was the TJ cheer squad called back when? The Belles and the Balls?

You are seriously one of three people I know who liked HS. The rest of us just tried not to be noticed.

High School rocked. But then again I went to WT White, so that may explain it.

Very proud of my school. Though I didn't much care for it. Couldn't wait for college.

And, yes. That's exactly right.

You should be proud. I actually beam when I hear items about my NCHS (Naperville Central) in IL--head ducked, albeit. So, I get 'ya.

Tom thumb and Fiesta in Oak Cliff, running out of food and no dairy, or meat products. Trucks will not arrive for days. How is the area holding up for food shortage with all these people. We had to pay 5 dollars for a gallon of milk at tom thumb. That is bs, they should not be raising prices.

When I went disaster shopping on Mon (ESP, I guess), pretty much everything was intact except for Coke/Pepsi & Superbowl goodies at my Albertsons.

It was as though, back when, people had no thought of the storm, just of running out of soda. (Didn't check the beer, but I'm sure it was the same).

Meant to mention that today too -- went to the Tom Thumb in Preston Royal on the way home from the office last night (thank God), and they were completely out of eggs, fresh herbs, most of the milk and MANY other fresher products. I asked what the what and was told: "Those come in on trucks from California, and they haven't been able to get here." Well, of course.

I wonder if Urban Acres, in the O.C., is holding up with the local foodstuffs.
