It's Official: Tom Leppert for U.S. Senate!

Categories: Politics

Here's the announcement posted moments ago on 'bout-to-be-former-Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert's website, which is titled, like the brand-new campaign adshort film (mmmm ... doughnuts) you see above, "Why I'm Running." For U.S. Senate, that is.
I bring a unique conservative approach to government.

I've created jobs, grown a business, and cut wasteful spending in both the public and private sector. I understand firsthand how decisions made in Washington affect the economy.

The federal government is overspending, overtaxing, over-regulating, and destroying jobs. To get our country back on track, we must reduce the role of government.

Making tough decisions in business and as Mayor was not easy, but I made the hard calls that are so lacking in Washington right now.

In the U.S. Senate I'll help create jobs, be a watchdog for taxpayers, fight wasteful spending, reduce the debt and stop the President's tax increases.
Incidentally, Leppert's old website is now the Tom Leppert for U.S. Senate website. Back to you, Mr. Schutze.

He didn't created any jobs in Dallas -- his only accomplishment was getting the Convention Center Hotel to be paid for by the city. Trash service went from twice weekly, to once -- roads stopped getting maintenance because he was so against even the slightest tax increase...one we couldn't of even noticed. I'm hoping we can find a good Democrat to be successful at the Senate level. Leppert can't win statewide because people in Dallas barely know anything about him much less the state of Texas.

Oh Lord..... The sad thing is he will probably win just because of the "R" next to his name. How many IPads did this clown buy and send out as advertisements to companies? What are those, like $600 a pop, just to hold one video? Has he heard of email attachments, or youtube?

Hear ye, hear ye. IF by some odd chance you are reading this comments section from outside of Dallas-Fort Worth...pay close attention. This guy was a pathetic mayor and has left a sinking boat with about an inch showing out of the water. He pandered to business and ignored the things that are literally aching to be fixed. He's arrogant, obnoxious, and ready to lie from Plainview to Palacios.

You were warned.

Everything Leppert said is true.....in Bazzaro World.

He should have added, "As mayor, I promoted the spending of massive amounts of borrowed money and federal earmarks to finance overly expensive, frivolous public works projects, while I allowed the city's infrastructure to rot, and it's flood protection to degrade."

Where is he filming this--Lew Sterrett?

"We must reduce the role of government"... But first, I need to drive all the independent, minority taxi drivers out of business by surprising them with a wildly expensive and arbitrary (Leppert's own city vehicle runs on good ol' fashioned gasoline) mandate to convert their taxis to natural gas forthwith!

My first thought after reading the "Why I'm Running" section was, "Absolutely none of that is true. Does he think people will actually believe that shit?"

Then I thought about how many Republicans actually believe the President is a socialist Muslim from Kenya.

This setting seems strange. Is he making his announcement outside a jail cell?

Funny -- we just had that same discussion in the office.

After reading through this several times, I still can't find a single true statement.

"To get our country back on track, we must reduce the role of government."

I will build convention center hotels in every city in America and build a toll road under every river. That will reduce the role of government.

Did he attempt to reduce the roll of local government while in office? If so, I'd love someone to tell me about it. If not, how the hell does he propose to do it on a national scale if he could not do it locally?

Good. I hope he spends every last dime and the last dimes of his friends in pursuing this fantasy, goes broke and sinks back into obscurity. Four years from now, no one in DFW will even remember him.

"I bring a unique conservative approach to government."

Socialism is a somewhat unique approach to conservatism.

"I was so instrumental increasing government spending on pork projects in the city of Dallas that all I have to do is the opposite in order to reduce the role of government. Trust me."

Agreed. Why put big business at risk. Let the taxpayers shoulder the losses.
