How Much Do Packers Like Highland Park?

The Green Bay Packers were supposed to practice at SMU. Yeah, not so much. Instead, they wound up using the Highland Park Scots' relatively new indoor practice facility, which, from the looks of this glowing press pack, is worth every penny of the $4.5 million spent. From The Packers' Official Team Blog:
The entire experience of practicing at Highland Park has been neat for the players, who were thoroughly impressed with the high school's indoor facility when they first arrived on Wednesday.

"Most of the high schools from my neck of the woods are rough and when I heard that we were going, I was pretty sure they wouldn't put us at a rinky-dink field," said running back Brandon Jackson, a native of Horn Lake, Miss., during his media session Thursday before practice. "When I saw it, it looked like a college campus."

Receiver Jordy Nelson, who's from Riley County, Kansas, said Highland Park puts a lot of other places to shame.

"We don't have that for a game field," Nelson said. "There's none of that in Kansas. I think it's funny that the high school that's 10, 15 blocks away has an indoor (field), but not SMU. The Washington Redskins don't even have an indoor facility and this high school does, and it's a great one at that. It's nothing that they just threw together. It's top-of-the-line stuff, and we appreciate them allowing us to use it. It's Texas football for you, I guess. They always talk about it, now we get to see it."

The sad thing is that Paul is actually right.:( The majority of highland park are all very wealthy. Most of all of the residents are required to pay a tax that goes to other school district. I graduated from Hp in 2005 and football is a HUGE deal in HP. (p.s. other schools to have a indoor facility b4 hp copell, south lake,) I wouldn"t say that hp builds indoor facilitys but the money from there taxes were used to help build school like Mabank highschool.

From the photo it appears only the White Packers were allowed inside. Now that's HP!

Good thing the Packers didn't get a chance to see the facility at Southlake HS. It's pretty impressive too.

I am a graduate of HPHS and am ever grateful for the high standard of education I received there. It is a "public" school system, but you have to live within the "Bubble" to attend their schools and since the average home in HP costs exponentially more than those in surrounding neighborhoods, it is essentially a school district for the very rich. That is how they are able to afford such extravagant football facilities, through the property taxes of the area residents. I think it's a very fair system.

I hate that all the news and players think that it is stupid that we have a indoor facility. HP is actually one of the last schools in Texas to get a indoor facility. They keep calling us rich snobs when we built there indoor facilities with our money with the robin hood policy.

I'm sure everybody will jump on here and bitch about how that money could have been spent on something more education-related. But you know what? HP has the money to fund everything that well, so more power to 'em!

I also went to HPHS, and found the municipal system set up like a small city - as HPHS is really inside the City of University Park. The parents who contribute to the school system care, and can definitely afford such premium facilities.  I believe a family's real estate investment supports the use of a private-like school system, marked by student achievement excellence, to match.

If you graduated from HP and you live in HP how in the world would you think that facility was paid for with our taxes? All that money was donated by private donors. It had nothing to do with taxes! They raised every dollar and have been raising the money for years! Have your ever heard of Robin Hood? We have to personally pay for any extras. The HPISD relies on donations to pay for much of the teacher salaries and operating budgets. If you would read the newspaper instead of Paper City you would know these facts. You are just fueling the fire that everyone on HP is stuck up and spoiled! Get your facts straight before you post information like that for the entire country to read.

hey dipshit paul nvr said the hp taxes built THE HP INDOOR facillity he said that they build shit for other schools. And if u knew UR FACTS u would now that the football players parents end up paying around 800 dollars per player! in a public school. And if u knew ur facts u would know about the bond funds. go get ur facts right before u try to prove some1 wrong

Since you seem to have an interest in factual accuracy, the practice facility was NOT entirely paid for with private donations. The cost to build was $4.47 million, of which $1 million came from the HP Sports Club, along with a pledge to fund certain future operations/maintenance costs. The remaining cost was paid for with surplus bond funds. Those bond funds, and interest thereon, are being paid back by the District. Where do you think that money is coming from?

@ G_DAVIDYou attempted to make a witticism, but alas, your error causes your teacher to be in that corner pouring the hot tea.

Bond funds are borrowed funds that are sold to private citizens.  This is not public funding.

I think G_David meant to both make two witticisms - one with the content and one with the grammar.

Isn't Unfair Park a great place to just bitch?

I was attempting to use grammar that Paul would understand. Did it go THAT far over your head? Man, I hate it when I have to explain my jokes.
