D/FW Airport to Offer Visitors An Added Attraction This Weekend: Picket Lines

twutopper.jpg
This just in from the Transport Workers Union of America, whose members have been engaged in drawn-out and heretofore unsuccessful negotiations with management at American Airlines: Beginning at 8 a.m. tomorrow morning, they'll be picketing and leafleting at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport. Specifically, they'll be marching up and down the sidewalks in front of Terminals A, C and D -- with the protest scheduled to take place Friday, Saturday and Monday from 8 in the morning till 6 p.m. And, says the TWU, it's doing so with the blessing of the National Football League Players Association, which, of course, is engaged in its own showdown with league owners.

Says Donny Tyndall, president of TWU's Los Angeles Local 502, he's flying in just to join the picket line. Because now's as good a time as any:
"More Super Bowl fans will travel to the game on American than any other airline. Most of the fans coming to Dallas will be aware of the potential lockout by NFL team owners. We want them to know of serious labor problems on the airline that takes them in and out of Dallas and the greedy behavior of the airline's managers."
