City Hall Explains Why Downtown Dallas Won't Go Dark During Rolling Blackouts

• It is nice! Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to search the halls of my cavernous downtown residence for my man-servant. I haven't had a hot precious stone massage to realign my chakra in, like, three hours.

• Interesting that they had a different excuse reported on NBC 5 just a few minutes ago (the Enormodome and Downtown were spared because it could cause problems if they had to evacuate the facilities in those 15-30 minutes.... Because there's no problem evacuating a large office tower without power if it's in the suburbs. And if a disaster causes the power to go out in one of those facilities, then everybody dies, I guess). Different excuses generally mean that they're full of shit. It appears that they simply decided that Jerry Jones and the Super Bowl was more important than the average, every day customers. Must be nice to be part of the elite and get to live by different rules than the rest of us.

• Same with the Gaston Park end of Garland Road. Garland's not a major enough street to merit sanding?

• I have yet to see any sand in Oak Cliff on major streets. I guess we are not part of the city either.

• Pablo was told they had no good way to clear the ice off the taxiways so they can't back out the airplanes. So they can't land what they can't back out. Apparently, one pre-Super Bowl planning item that was not considered.

• I wonder if Jerry World is suffering from the blackouts? My guess is that they are not!

• I've always thought "Ice Force 2" was the best of the Ice Force series - it was really the last one before it got too campy.

• Brenda, working on an item about that now. But one runway's open, per City Hall. The other is not. Southwest is supposed to get operations back up by noonish. Stay tuned.

• Let me guess..... Judging from my drive into work the last two days 798 of the 800 designated routes are coincidentally located right next to Superbowl activities?

• Hubby drove from our home south of LBJ to Richardson to get to the office. He called to say the roads were scary in Dallas, but gradually grew passable as he headed east along Spring Valley. He thinks the sun literally shined on Richardson and not on us.

• The roads are passable. What I don’t understand is why the City’s aviation department can’t get off their ___ and figure out a away to open Love Field to AIRPLANES. One runway may be clear, but the taxiways aren’t. So planes can’t fly. I’ve taken my beloved back and forth yet again today (same yesterday) while trying to get him on an aircraft to ABQ. Rebooked at 5 pm but so far nothing has been in the air. Why doesn’t the press go to Love Field and ask them what the __ is going on out there? This is a huge problem and story. Why isn’t the Dallas press covering it?
