Can't Believe You're Not on This List of People Who've Received Keys to the City of Dallas

You have asked, and Frank Librio, the public information officer at Dallas City Hall, has answered by providing a recent sampling of the famous, infamous and who's-that?'s who have received keys to the city of Dallas. At last, a list I can get behind. Because, as I've been reminded more than once, everyone loves lists.

Actually, it's two: Librio offers a list of those who have received an Official Key to the City ("provided by Dallas Protocol and given by Mayors or their designees") and those who've put on their key chain a Ceremonial Key to the City ("provided by Council offices and given by various Councilmembers"). Hey, hey, hey -- it's Bill Cosby!

Oh my god. Alert Homeland Security. I'm afraid a "Ceremonial Key to the City" is currently unaccounted for.

What did Don Hill get in exchange from the Chicoms for the key? FBi should investigate!

That small key is given in most cases as a Thank You.People who donate their time or money to good causes helping a City project. The animal lovers made this a big deal,no onewould have known about this key,if the Man who drove pass all the animal shelters in Dallas to buy a dog that at one time had belong to Vick. This man ,Hudson has tried his best to make money from ownership of Mel and it just has not happen. He did not get that dog to love and protect, its for publicity and money,Who the hell is he to say Vick needs therapy?

A key to Marty B? With all of the great Cowboys who have done so many good things for the city, the one and only Cowboy to get a key is that fool, Marty B. At least Caraway didn't give it to him. Lord, Dallas is going to hell in a handbasket. I better get out of Dodge sooner than later.

I thought they just said that "official" keys only went to elected officials? Most of those recipients don't look elected to me.

Ok...let's see. the key to the city is an old custom. An ornamental key is presented to esteemed visitors, residents, or others the city wishes to honor. Evoking medieval walled cities whose gates were guarded during the day and locked at night, the key symbolizes the freedom of the recipient to enter and leave the city at will, as a trusted friend of city residents.

The last time I checked, we don't require passports/visas/name badges, etc to get in and out of Dallas...though there are some areas we should. :D I think we should present people with those electronic keycards like they use at hotels. Time to come out of the dark ages. LOL

Sorry but I think it's just stupid to have "official" keys and "ceremonial" keys. What's the point? It cheapens the whole concept of keys to the city in the first place.

So...what you're saying is that Caraway only gives keys to black people?

Great. Just what we need, an entire delegation of Russian lawyers running around with keys to the city.

I don't care what anyone says, Essar Bokar Sey deserved that key damnit. Can you imagine The Gambia without him? No, you can't.

So Marty B is the only Dallas Cowboy to have received a key to the city? I'm shocked that Dwaine hasn't tracked down Raphael Septien, since, you know, it's for the children and all.

Since I live in the city how can I get one in case I get locked out by accident? Is there like a hide-a-key rock somewhere that I don't know about in case of emergency?

No wonder Prince bailed. He wasn't promised a key.

Agreed. The man paid his debt to society. Can we move on from this already?

In a battle for the moral high ground between "dog adopter" and "dog torturer", few people have the deep level of sickening inhumanity required to side with the dog torturer.
