Top 10 Mayor Tom Photos of '10

If 2010 turns out to be Mayor Tom Leppert's last full year in office before he attempts to snag Kay Bailey Hutchison's U.S. Senate seat in the March 2012 primary, it was certainly another productive year for the workaholic. Whoever takes his place has a lot to live up to as far as appearances go -- that is, since Leppert seemingly can be found somewhere in the city at any given time cutting a ribbon with oversized scissors, reissuing a speech or inking his name with a Sharpie onto the latest construction project.

So, much like I've done in past years, I took a look back at Leppert's 10 best photo ops and present them to the Friends of Unfair Park as a belated holiday treat. Enjoy, and please let me know your caption suggestions or link to any pics I missed in the comments.

Photo #6

As the Mayor mesmerizes the crowd . Mr. T. Boone Pickens had a great dream but, while he dreams of helping people the leaders at Jubilee Center and DISD dream of taking the homes and properties in the area .--- Example -- one elderly resident residing across the street from Jubilee Center...Jubilee wants to put in a new garden where the home currently stands and with the help of code compliance and a little bullying -- forcing, threatening and harassing they want this elderly resident to leave or sell for only $18k. This is not what Mr. Pickens dreamed of...Mr. Pickens would help this resident fix her home and would want to keep a loyal neighbor safe and happy.

Example #2 blocks away... the Residents of Jubilee Park are being bullied by DISD.

DISD is demolishing good homes and destroying their neighborhood to put in parking lots in between homes!

That doesn't make sense nor is it safe for the children!

Neighborhoods consists of homes not parking lots!

Learn more about how DISD is wasting tax dollars, not listening to the voters and how Board Member Bruce Parrott was madder than an old wet hen! at http://www.stopdisd.org/

No. 4 is creepy on many levels

I just don't get what animates you hipster political types. Then again, I think I might: Bicycles, locavore, flash mobs, things that go viral, toys from your ever-prolonged youth, clothes that are too tight, Apple computers, Volkswagen, irony and "being ironic," organic anything, dogs as children, calling anything and everything "genius," Oak Cliff, anything that makes fun of what you (i) don't understand, (ii) refuse to try to understand, or (iii) disagree with.

I wouldn't know how to be a "hipster" if I wanted to, although I'm in the correct age bracket.

But maybe I can help answer your (ironically) smart-ass question: it's called having fun. You should try it sometime.

And if not, then perhaps you'd be happier reading your DMN newspaper that you'll be paying more for since they want all you dinosaurs to start trending away from paper product. You know, so they can stay relevant to all us "hipster political types".

I answered my own question; as can be seen above. What does making a comment have anything to do with having fun? And exactly why is extending one's childhood into middle-age considered fun? Furthermore, how do you know that I read the DMN? Are you psychic? If so, then you are not a good one. But what the hell... do you have any stock tips?

Heh! Bicycles, locavore, and clothes that are too tight, in particular. All those things can get annoying, but it's the snark and mockery that actually bothers me.

Nice list, but you left out beards, non-prescription glasses, and music where the singer sounds like he or she can barely muster up the will to breathe.

The Observer photo of Leppert greeting Colin Hanks and Bradley Whitford makes my top ten list.

If you think #2 is frightening, you should see the other side of the camera in #9....

Its not to selfish to say the best photo is # 9? Though any time the Mayor fist pumps things it must be a good day in the neighborhood. Awesome stuff Mr. Richie Whitt for a week. The best sports coverage all year I might add.

What an asinine waste of time. Like, dislike, feel indifferent about the mayor... but this is puerile.
