Stan Lee's Dallas Star, a "Celestial Enforcer of the Texas Plains." Ain't No Captain America.

A few months back the National Hockey League announced it was partnering with Stan Lee -- the man who helped birth, oh, I dunno, Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four and the Incredible Hulk and a few other make-mine-Marvel-ous comic-book heroes -- on something called The Guardian Project. Long story short: Lee would oversee the creation of a super hero for each NHL team, and the whole gang would bang in a cartoon that'll air during the All-Star Game at month's end.

Well, thanks to the copious amount of missives presently filling the Unfair Park in-box (one, subject-headed "Here, nerd"), I've discovered that about three days back Stan the Man introduced The Dallas Star -- that's him in the video you see at top. An illustration and bio follows. I'm with those fanboys who think Star looks a little ... familiar, let's say.

While its not the best of his creations, true believers, he's still coming out w/ decent stuff at 88 yrs of age. I'd cut stan the man some slack.

like Van Morrison, Lee will never do anything significant again, remember the former greatness.

Oooooooh, superheroes named 'The Canadien," "The Maple Leaf" and 'The Canuck"? Those should strike fear in the hearts of ... somebody. North Dakotans? Talk about re-fried, derivative hash -- "The Flyer"? "The Capitol"? I mean, try to look at "The Coyote" and not think that Wolverine must have lost a sad, wannabe-sidekick somewhere.

He needs a better super power. Something along the lines of manipulating brain waves of Metroplex residents to make them want to attend Star's games.

I actually think he looks kind of cool. I guess it might be kind of hard to come up with 30 new characters that are completely original.

By the way, has anybody noticed what a great season the Stars are putting together? From the size of the 2 "crowds" I've been a part of this years, I assume not.
