What you see above is one of the Environmental Protection Agency's AeroCommander 680s, which the agency uses to sniff air quality via Airborne Spectral Photographic Environmental Collection Technology. (I dunno.) Which I mention only because the Dallas Police Department just sent this heads-up well in advance of a flyover scheduled for Monday morning:
On Monday, January 24, 2011, between approximately 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., there will be several low-altitude flyovers of central Dallas, including downtown, by an EPA airplane. The purpose of the flyovers is to conduct an environmental survey of Dallas in preparation for the Super Bowl. The airplane, which will be clearly marked, is similar to the one shown below. The flyovers have the approval of the Federal Aviation Administration and the State of Texas.
Which reminds me: For the last forever I've been sitting on this November '87 recording of Pink Floyd at Reunion Arena on the Momentary Lapse of Reason tour, its first sans Roger Waters. Not exactly sure why an item about an airplane in a blue sky reminds me of Pink Floyd. This, maybe? This? No, wait -- this. Submitted for your weekend listening pleasure.
