At the Texas Theatre, Just Because We Never Miss a Ribbon-Cutting With the Mayor

Mayor Tom Leppert and Delia Jasso joined the Aviation Cinemas gang and Stuart Sikes (in the green sweater) officially re-open the Texas Theatre
I did indeed take the 7-year-old who lives in my house to the Texas last night for its official re-opening, where Mayor Tom declared that the Oak Cliff movie house is "just as important" to the cultural life of Dallas as the Wyly or Winspear or Meyerson, how 'bout that. Turnout among the familiar faces (Janis Burklund, James Faust, Jason Roberts, JFK actor Ron Jackson, Delia Jasso ... pretty much all the J's) was impressive; so too the theater itself, for those who haven't yet visited (and, based upon my talk with Aviation Cinemas CEO Barak Epstein yesterday, that's most of you).

I let the boy loose with the camera. A few more of his photos follow.

That's Ron Jackson at right. He played the FBI spokesman who appears throughout Oliver Stone's JFK.
