Nothing like the holiday season to bring out the best in all of us, right? Notsomuch, says the Dallas County Sheriff's Department, which held a press conference today in front of the Kroger at Mockingbird and Greenville to advise citizens not to park in handicapped spots if they're not, you know, handicapped. Also, wash behind your ears and don't talk with your mouth full. Sheriff Lupe Valdez told the press and the public that "these spaces are not a luxury for our disabled citizens," but, rather, a necessity.

Dallas Police Lieutenant Tony Crawford, who was injured in the line of duty in the early 90's and now uses a wheelchair, was als on hand to emphasize the importance of not being an assbag. I'm paraphrasing, of course. No matter how short a time you're going to be inside a shopping center, he told us, don't park in a handicapped spot. When Crawford was on patrol "People would tell me, 'I'm only going to be here a few minutes.'" But in those few minutes, a disabled person might need that spot, he said. You just never know.

Sheriff's deputies will be in both marked and unmarked vehicles in the area's busiest shopping centers, said Valdez. "We're going to go where the majority of the action is."

Everybody: She sees you when you're parking, she sees when you're an ass ...
