TCU celebrates its second straight Mountain West title after Saturday's shellacking of New Mexico.
So report both AOL FanHouse and the New York Daily News this morning, in advance of what's expected to be a 1 p.m. press conference here. The undefeated No. 3 Horned Frogs, of course, are the team on the outside looking in at the BCS standings; right now, everything's coming up Rose Bowl, unless either Auburn or Oregon drop their championship games Saturday.

But a move to the Big East outta the Mountain West would end all the breath-holding and finger-crossing in coming seasons, should Gary Patterson's team keep on winning. From the Daily News:
A timetable for the Frogs' entrance to the league has yet to be determined, but this will mean the football AD's will get a ninth team they are looking for to form a balanced schedule. It will also give TCU what it wants -- a chance to play in a BCS automatic qualifying conference. None of the football AD's, which drove this expansion, seems to mind that every other sport will have to travel half way across the country for road games. They just view it as a price of survival.
Update: Following the 1 p.m. press conference, TCU issued this press release, which begins thusly ...
TCU's Board of Trustees unanimously approved an invitation to join the Big East Conference in all sports beginning with the 2012-13 academic year. TCU will become an official member of the Big East July 1, 2012.
