TCU to Head (Big) East? Yup. In 2012.

• Thats awesome! I cant wait to see em play Connecticut, Rutgers, and Univ South Florida. Those are going to be some heated rivalries for sure.

• RE: John. It's like calling this area "North Texas" when that whole Panhandle area is actually further north.

• The Big East is only guaranted an automatic BCS bid through 2014. By all accounts it's about 50-50 as to whether they maintain that status. It would be beyond hilarious if the Mountain West gets the bid beyond 2014 instead of the Big East.

• It seems that the folks who write headlines for the MSN.com site could use a little lesson in Texas geography. The headline for this story on that site is: "TCU may be in west Texas but it's going to Big East." I guess the East Coast writers ignore all that area to the west of I-35W. @Ben -- TCU will likely dominate both football and baseball for the near term, but they will have a tough time being competitive in basketball.

• TCU Baseball is gonna kill, wholesale slaughter, every team in the Big East. They will run up double digit scores against those teams!

• TCU adds nothing to the XII. The big12 already owns the DFW TV market. Now the Big East gets recruiting inroads to Texas recruits and TCU gets their games on ESPN at a decent hour. The travel will only be and cheaper, more flights to East Coast populations. TCU goes from the eastern edge of the most vast conferences short of the WAC (LA Tech to Hawaii) to the western edge of the big east

• I like those computer generated images of what places will look like. I know the people are randomly added to them, but they always look funny.

• Im glad the Little Horny Toads are finally making a move into the "Big Leagues" when it comes to their sports programs. Im wondering how much the Ohio State "Sisters Of The Poor" comment had in influencing this decision?? Also, TCU is going to have to start making some serious improvements to Daniel-Meyer or, the better option, build a new state of the art facility, I have a serious feeling the more well-heeled alumni would pitch in to build such a monstrosity on or near campus.

• So, why not the Big 12? Too obvious?

• Given their dominance of the MW, was being in an auto qualifier conference really necessary? Maybe they are assuming the East Coast media bias would help them in years like this year and give them a chance to be the #2 team instead of left looking at the puppy in the window on Christmas eve. Travel cost wise, is this really much different from the MW? I guess this is a semi hedge in the event some other school in the conference gets a bid and they get a share of it.

• The Pac-10 doesn't play a championship game (not until Utah and Colorado are in, and it splits into divisions). Oregon plays Oregon State in their annual Civil War game this weekend. Since Oregon beat Stanford, the next-best team in the conference, they have the tiebreaker for the conference championship. Both teams would be 8-1 in-conference, with Oregon beating Stanford earlier this season. - <i>This ends the 'sperg-out over college football. We now return you to your regularly-scheduled blog.</>

• Hmm. That's the fourth conference for the Frogs in just over a decade. This rapid serial monogamy seems a bit desperate, but whatever. That said, I wish them well, regardless, but reserve the right to laugh when the Mountain West becomes an AQ.

• Word is they'll be joining for the 2012-2013 season.

• If this does happen they better sink some massive dollars in the basketball programs and get a modern arena or else they will be a laughingstock in those big media markets.

• Heres to TCU stepping up into the big boy conference. Still not the best football conference, but at least its BCS automatic, and well it IS the deepest conference in basketball so good luck with that.
