Starck Club to Reopen ... As "Zouk"

• @ Stacy: Yes, there is valet there. It must have been full by the time you got there b/c the entire lot in front of the entrance is for the club. Some of my friends had to park in the lot over to the side but it wasn't a terrible walk. Not to contradict everything you said but how many people did you have in your group? We had 12 people and fit comfortably at our table. In any case, I'm just glad to have a new place to go in Dallas.

• Also went to the soft opening on Friday. Me and my friends HATED IT! The music was basically radio music turned really loud, no cool remixes or anything original. The layout was HORRIBLE. You have to be very careful where u walk since the main floor has several steps w/out lighting scattered throughout. There is also no valet. We had a table but our entire party was forced by security to all be packed into our lil booth since we we're spilling out " only 2 ppl" into a large aisle that connected the private tables. We all decided that it was ok, but will never return. This club looks nothin like a celebrity venue should! As for the unisex bathrooms..which they are not...you prolly shouldn't have changed it, it wouldve been the only thing outta the ordinary w/ this club..

• Went to the soft opening on Friday. The place looked great, the people were beautiful and the music was flowing. Got a table and bottle service and couldn't have been happier with the night. This is going to be THE new "it" spot. I hope it lasts...!

• Last night was amazing; Dallas deserves a place like this. Hope Zouk stays like this.

• I walked in today to see what the place looks like. It is absolutely amazing what they have done with that building. I am willing to give them a chance and visit this weekend.

• So how do you know the people from the 80s won't be there? We had a 25th Starck Anniversary last year and we were all there hanging until all hours like the old days. I think Laura is right..but it would be nice if one club made it through from one generation to the next and stayed the same. If any club could have done that it should have been The Starck.

• Clubs in Dallas come and go but it'd be nice to have a reliable club that makes a name for itself the way Stark and Area 51 did back in the day. We can't bring those times back so there's no use on bashing on the fact that someone is taking the initiative to bring a new club venue to Dallas. As for the comment about Purgatory: The promoters did a great job promoting Purgatory--it was always packed (in the beginning). I just hope they do their job at Zouk and bring in a classier group of people.

• Why does everyone take this so personally. I think it is about time for a change, I mean people haven't really used the space since the 80's and it is a good space in a great location. I hope it does good, and people can have a good time again. It will never replace the Stark club or people's memories, but it may help some new people build their own memories and stories about the Dallas night life. I mean atleast somebody finally put some thought and effort into the space rather than just put some paint on the walls like the clubs in the space before. I can't wait to go see what it is like. We shouldn't judge the place before we experience it... just sayin

• I think these comments are hilarious. I love how people are complaining about how it is changing and how it will never be what it used to be. I mean if these people went there in the 80's they aren't gonna be there now, so just get over yourself. You did your drugs and had your fun, its time for a new generation to have some fun...

• Why can't someone come up with something original for once? But even originality goes so far in Dallas. There are some really good venues/spaces in Dallas but for whatever reason they never gain traction.

• Re; The "integrity" of the original Starck Club This club was originally (by his own admission) merely a virtual showroom for Phillipe Starck's furniture designs. The guy went there one time, realized that people weren't picking up on that, so he went back to Europe and forgot all about the place. If this new "Starck" club isn't using his furniture, cutlery, glassware and architecture, how is this in any way a reopening of the Starck Club? I mean, you can find all of his stuff at Target now. Shouldn't be hard to totally deck the place out with his products. You might even find the old Starck clientele working at Target, as well.

• BTW: If they pulled DJ RedEye in to spin fairly often THEN it might be something good, fun and nostalgic. If they go Top 40/hip hop all the time...it won't last nor will it be anything special other than a lot of space filled with a lot of the same patrons that introduced you to the feature presentation: "Violence on Lower Greenville." Yeah.....

• @ John M: Just because there aren't any bowls holding it doesn't mean there isn't plenty still floating around Dallas. :)

• Yeah I never really understood the kinds of people who enjoyed this kind of thing back then, but at least they had the virtue of being caught up in the times. Its 2010, people. Time to move on.

• All you people who say you were there for the big Dallas Police raid and drug bust...shut up. You were not. If that place held 13000, it wouldn't hold everyone who claims to have been there. It's like Wilt scoring 100 points

• Unless they are bringing back the bowls of ecstasy will anyone that goes to clubs these days care?

• Starck Club - meh. Some folks just can't let the 80's go.
