Dallas PD, Sheriff Roll Out Holiday Initiatives
First up: The Home for the Holidays Initiative, a partnership with the DPD, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the Dallas County Sheriff's Department and the Texas Department of Transportation. From the announcement:
The initiative will run from November 24, 2010 through January 4, 2011 and will utilize a total of 14 additional officers to provide increased patrols throughout the city. These officers will focus on removing those individuals that make the choice to drive while impaired.Then there's Sheriff's Department's Holiday Safety Enforcement Campaign, summed up thusly:
Regular and Reserve Deputies will be patrolling area shopping centers and malls to provide a safer environment for holiday shoppers and to look for parking violators, with emphasis on those persons violating handicap parking laws. These spaces are critically needed this time of year for citizens that have the proper credentials. Violators may receive a warning or fine for each offense.
