Speaking of the mayor pro tem ...

City Hall just sent word that tomorrow at City Hall, Dwaine Caraway will be joined by SMU associate psychology prof Jasper Smits, clinical psychologist Jay Ashmore of the Cooper Aerobics Center and others to launch a citywide anti-smoking initiative. Its title: "Quit Smoking Dallas." (Not to nitpick, but shouldn't it read "Quit Smoking, Dallas"?) Not so coincidentally, the announcement comes one day before the American Cancer Society's 35th annual Great American Smokeout. Says Caraway in the announcement: "We want to encourage smokers to put their health first by making a commitment on November 18 to stop smoking for good."

Fun fact: Folks surveyed on the government's stop-smoking site think Monday is the best day to quit. Really?
