Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust: Rubble Is Now All that Remains Of Oak Cliff Christian Church

Till hours ago, it looked more or less like this. But Jeff Liles and Melissa Hennings were at the site today, where crew are razing the roof and all the rest, and now it looks like this. More of Melissa's photos follow. One further note, for those who've forgotten: This church was designed by Charles Bulger, the man also responsible for the late, great McKinney Avenue Baptist Church.
Update at 3:04 p.m.: No sooner did I post this than DISD sent word concerning Monday's groundbreaking ceremony for the "new" Adamson High School, which will include the site of the now-former church. Details follow.
DALLAS ISD TO BREAK GROUND FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW W. H. ADAMSON HIGH SCHOOLCeremony Scheduled for Monday, Oct. 11DALLAS-Dallas Independent School District officials, community members, alumni, students and staff will gather at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new W. H. Adamson High School, at 10 a. m., Monday, Oct. 11. The ceremony will take place at 309 East Ninth St.
As part of the 2008 Bond Program, a new 223,496 square feet, three-story high school will be constructed to serve 1,300 students. The new school is expected to open in August
2012.
Program participants include Principal Evangelina Kircher; Superintendent of Schools Michael Hinojosa; Eric Cowan, Board Trustee-District 7; Adamson Alumni Martha Hinojosa-Nadler; Dallas City Councilmember for District 1 Delia Jasso; Senior Class President Adan Gonzales; and Phil Jimerson, Deputy Chief of Operations, Dallas ISD. Also, the school's varsity choir will perform.
