For One Night Only, a Chance, Finally, to See the Rolling Stones Play Fort Worth in 1972

More than once I've directed your attention to the sound track to the long-lost Rolling Stones in-concert doc Ladies and Gentlemen, the Rolling Stones, filmed during the '72 Exile on Main St. tour. All of the footage comes from Texas -- two shows at the Tarrant County Convention Center, two at the University of Houston's Hofheinz Pavilion. And none of it's been seen in more than three decades.

So, then. This morning I get an e-mail from a New York publicist, who says, sure enough, Ladies and Gentlemen is getting a one-night-only big-screen revisit a week from tomorrow. It's been restored, remixed and remastered with a new Mick Jagger interview tacked on, no doubt a Blu-ray/DVD bonus upon its October release. It's been booked into three Dallas theaters: the Galaxy, the AMC NorthPark 15 and the Cinemark 17's IMAX. (There are myriad other local showings that night as well, including two in Fort Worth.) And in case you missed it the first go-round, here's the film's long-exiled companion: hours' worth of the Stones' stopover at Sumet-Burnet Recording Studio in Dallas the night before -- and morning of -- the Fort Worth shows.
