A Friend of Unfair Park directs our attention to this Texas-sized showdown last night on CNN's Anderson Cooper 360 concerning "anchor babies" -- or, as Houston's Rep. Debbie Riddle calls 'em, "little terrorists." Offered on the other side without comment except to say it takes a good four minutes into the 11-minute clip before Cooper gets to Dallas's Rafael Anchía, who, for some reason, can't seem to stop grinning.
Chad,
I beg to differ, they may come over here to work, but once they are here, they figure out the system and get pregnant right away. Your wife must not be paying to attention to the conversations her students are having. I agree, it takes to much initiative to do homework and learn something while they are receiving a free education, a luxury, since in Mexico or anywhere else, education is not free. But most of those high school students and/or their mothers are getting pregnant with the idea that they will be "anchored" here. I too work in the education environment and hear the mothers talking. I also see the white women married to the "fresh out of the water" men. OMG do they not see why these men married them??? It ain't love, for sure. LMAO
Really?? These women do come over here to have babies. The sad part is they deny it and convince you that it is not true.
As for "empowering" them, at whose cost? You got deep pockets like that?
I say, if you can't proof citizenship when you go to Parkland or any county hospital, or clinic, they should put you on a bus and haul your butt down to the other side of the border.
This is getting ridiculous and expensive...
How about the one who marry illegals, knowingly? How does that get resolved? How do you get past the lies? Much like the Gypsy story, these women convince lonely, old, boring men, that they love them and these men believe them.
It's a said state of the human mind, especially for the children that are U.S. citizens and then have these women to contend with.
omg... her dentures are TOO big for her.. they're about to fall!!!
Awesome!
This woman is perhaps the biggest idiot I have ever seen on TV (and that is saying a lot). She has NOTHING to back up any of the dribble repeatedly falling out of her mouth like racist crumbs. If anything Anderson & Rep. Anchgo waaaaay too easier on her.
Yeah, Republicans Debbie Riddle and Louie Gohmert both sounded like idiots on the terror baby stuffuntil these pictures of Chinese anchor baby terror tots were released this weekend. When you check these out, you may feel differently about Gohmert, China and the 14th Amendment.
Read this article. It is VERY FUNNY.
http://www.dailygoat.com/?p=2608
Wasn't there an episode of Family Guy where Lois was running for some office and all she would say in her speeches....was
Jesus.....9-11....
I was going to say now we know the type of babbling Palin will be doing in 20 years, but hell she already does it. Just throw out the words Protect, Freedom, Terror, Constitution, and liberty, doesn't matter that what your saying while using those words make no sense at all, it will bring you voters and followers.
Such a stupid stupid woman. Texas Republicans. "at this point I'm not going to reveal that"...
Replay at the end when she says "would you let me finish", it's Dana Cravey doing Perot.
"I told your producer that I was going to make a bunch of serious allegations with absolutely no proof or actual evidence....." Yeah, she was set up.
hahahahahahahahhahahahahahhaha, very funny how seriously some people take their own BS.
LMAO
Republicans......
"..they didn't tell me you were going to GRILL me.." lol! Terror babies...babble babble... illegal...blah blah...anchor babies...babble babble...GOD bless america lol. Wow, what a nutcase, I was embarrassed for her, another five minutes I'll never get back.
I think her overbite is HOT! It doesn't detract from her intellect one bit. At least it wouldn't if she had one.
Alla this dishin' about the tangibles, Anchia and Riddle, on CNN has washed out the even sadder replay of Rep. Gohmert, who was the original play on the "terror babies" of Hamas. Those CNN producers sure can find these folks, can't they?
Kudoes to the humorist who told us he was raising some nice blond, blue-eyed terror babies: call me when we invade Arkansas or Idaho (or Tomball, for that matter).
If you've ever been to The Valley, you'll recall that the reason we have a porous border is so all of the Americans can get over the too-few bridges to their jobs in Mexico, not the other way 'round. Terror Burbs (Colonias del Terror?), they're called in Reynosa, referring to Edinburg. Okay, Riddle told me that, I don't actually have that on paper anywhere.
did anyone notice her upper lip never moves and really her whole face doesn't moved except her lower lip. Let's say BOTOX
Man, that lady reads a lot of Chuck Pahlaniuk.
Tim, Ok, that's fine for you, commendable I guess. But, what my point is that much of this issue is pure political opportunism on the part of the AM Right. They have an audience who cares about this, I've written and called encouraging them to follow my plan.
What on Earth is wrong with asking these right wingers with the platform to ask their listeners to follow up enough to simply ask. Surely you're not going to argue that right wing radio listeners do all their work themselves? I'm willing to bet that they are in fact disproportionately more likely to hire workers to attend to their home.
Again, you say you didn't take the lowest bid, that's not what I'm talking about. But the designer and the boss offer that. It doesn't take a lot of skill to clear a flowerbed. One axiomatic rule that is true is that the more English they speak, the less the tend to work. So, if the quality you're looking for is a product of elbow grease your paradigm might get you inferior work.
Also, based on what Illegals pull down, the most disadvantaged workers in the market, minimum wage should be $10/hour. I know you can't handle that.
This is a bit, right? This has to be a bit.
Also: Riddle is a joke. GET IT??????
Why did a picture of DISD Trustee Nancy Bingham pop into my mind every time Rep Riddle spoke?
She says "Security" and it makes me think of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ts02nNfJaM
I'm forever going to think of her as Debby "Bonquiqui" Riddle.
I never cease to be amazed by the fact that every time Debbie Riddle appears on the television she sounds even crazier than her previous television appearance. She has been the joke of the Texas Capitol (with members of all parties) since her election in 2002. She is as dumb as they come. And flies her own black helicopter. That's why Anchia can't stop smiling.
But that still doesn't explain why the folks in Tomball keep electing her (or does it?).
I know you are thinking "who does she look like?"
Sue Sylvester - not a bad guess but then I realized that, yes,
she is the long lost sister of Fire Marshall Bill Burns
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8-uKs5Opbo
Representative Riddle should have waited until her face work had time to stretch to fit her teeth work before she went on national tv.
I actually watched the video and she's right. It also sounds like this was the typical cable news set up, she mentions to the producers of the show that FBI officials have given her some information and ol' Andy goes after her about that one subject knowing full well the FBI officials hadn't given her that details. Politics as usual, she's an idiot for falling for it though, and the Anchia guy does have a creepy look on his face.
Scott, you are making a big assumption. I do want all of the work don on my home done by those able to legally work here. It's the reason I do almost all of the work myself. And, what I have had done has never been done by the lowest bidder. I care more about the quality of the work done than the price.
Yes, I do want government limited. But, law enforcement is a legitimate role of government. Also, a good system for confirming legal employment need not be that intrusive. A web site and phone number where you can verify that a person's documentation matches government records, and then get a confirmation code for your records, is not intrusive. Intrusive is the raids that ICE has done on employers while preventing employees from leaving until they prove they can work here legally.
Intrusive is a ridiculously low number of allowed legal migrant workers from Mexico in the name of "protecting" jobs that nobody else will take.
This is the type of women who, back in the old days, would harp on about the dangers of the sex-crazed Negro.
"don't cite any sources or provide any proof"
What are you, a dirty Communist? Everybody knows that "proof" and "statistics" are tools of liberal academics and the ACLU trying to force everyone in America to get gay married and adopt terror babies and then convert the terror babies into vegan gay babies and make them get vegan gay baby married.
Scott has sort of hit the nail on the head here. saying that people "care" about an issue is not very helpful. there are degrees of caring. many people who "care" about ending illegal immigration still hire workers here illegally as nannies so that they can pay them less, and pay them in cash to avoid social security taxes. their justification is typically that "well they're already here, I might as well save myself some money". I'm sorry, but in a market economy, if you buy it, you support it.
Having said that, anchor babies don't have quite the strict interpretation that Anchia ascribes to them. They do exist, though I know that politically he can't ever admit that.
I saw this last night. I don't understand the whole "terror baby" thing. They don't cite any sources or provide any proof that such a thing is taking place. I can see how such a thing would be possible but if Republicans are not going to back up any claims then why give them the mic?
As for the whole "anchor baby" thing, my wife deals with lots of illegals all the time (she's a DISD HS teacher) her thoughts are people come here illegally to work and end up having a baby/family. They don't come here to have a baby to get citzenship, heh my wife says that would take too much initiative.
Her suggestion is zero tolerance for businesses that employ illegals. Take away the main reason to cross the border illegally.
You know, it's kind of flattering to know that my uterus and what comes out if it are so powerful, that they strike fear in the hearts of bigoted White people.
If Riddle were so concerned with the fertility of immigrant Women of Color, she would be figuring out ways to empower them, and the rest of the women in the state, to manage their fertility. Things like expanded access to affordable birth control (including condoms) and better sex education, not just in schools but in other government programs, would help them plan their pregnancies better. Way better than exacerbating racial tensions and getting all shaky-eyed about it.
But, whateves. Seems like she forgot that Republican golden boy, Bobby Jindal, was an anchor baby.
P.S. I would pretty much give anything to see Anchand Cooper make out. :rawr:
Just finished reading Last Call, which is a very good read about prohibition, both the driving forces that got the amendment passed and the aftermath of the amendment that finally caused the demise. The really scary thing is how a group of dedicated zealots cobbled together a coalition, scared most congressman and state legislators through intimidation at the polls and through financial support, and finally hijacked the Constitution to pass their single focus amendment. The same thing could happen today.
anyone that voted for this Riddle woman had to have taken leave of their senses.
LOL
Republicans......
Tim, there is one small gov't solution that I've personally sent to all the local right wing radio personalities. They apparently are stupid, don't believe or understand free enterprise or are simply sophistic whores seeking to rally the base with the basest of issues.
If those hiring contractors for work would simply ask those bidding on work if their workers are documented they would demonstrate there is a market for documented workers. Actually, the opposite happens, the customer wants the lowest price available by any means necessary. That means they don't want to know if undocumented workers are doing the work.
So long as there is no market for documented workers, why do you expect anything to change? Further, if consumers aren't willing to pay more for documented work then they don't care. Why then should police be brought in to crack down on something you refuse to lift a finger, or utter a question.
So, you words are wasted. You say you want a crackdown on employers yet you want less gov't. Do you not see the contradiction? Do we need to be policed against ourselves? Your argument is built upon layers and layers of hypocrisy. The best thing that has happened regarding illegal immigration is that after Bush tanked the economy there's now no shortage of documented workers willing to work.
It makes me very depressed to know that people like this are making (or attempting to make) laws in my state.
Favorite quote from video: "If you are in this country having a baby illegally, then you are not here legally."
It's too bad that she looks a little loony (but then, so does that fine man, Anchia with his creepy smile), but what she says resonates with millions and I for one happen to agree with what she says.
Plus, Anderson Cooper is a complete douche. There, I said it.
Is it just me, or does she look like Sue Sylvester on "Glee" to anyone else?
I think something needs to be done about illegal immigration (generally aimed at the pocketbooks of those who knowingly hire illegals). However, I think this anchor baby stuff is just crap. If we amend the constitution where there is more of a requirement than being born here, we end up with an underclass who will never have a hope of being more. Part of what makes this country great, as silly as it sounds, is that every baby born here has the potential to become President of the USA. Changing that will radically harm the fabric of our country.
Wow, that woman seems really crazy. What does she do for a living, anyway?
I'm raising a homegrown lil' terror baby, who has blond hair, blue eyes, and access to a disturbingly large arsenal.
So, you know, it's not just them brown folks you should worry about.
This is why horse masturbators, I mean horse breeders, should not be allowed to hold elected office.
