Save Our Dallas Libraries, with a wine-and-cheese wingding on August 12 at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library. Scheduled to speak is Thomas Alexander, author of the book

Marcus: The Relentless Reign of a Merchant Prince -- so chosen, no doubt, because Marcus was among those who co-founded Friends of the Dallas Public Library in 1950.
And I see at the bottom of the page the Friends have quite a few friends -- among them Borders Books, Arcodoro and Pomodoro, all of whom will be collecting dough for the libraries in coming weeks. And, there's a Donor Bridge pledge drive on September 8.
