The Other Items on Park and Rec Board Agenda
|The city's inching closer to starting that Stevens Park extreme makeover, which had been set to start at the beginning of this month.|
Park and Rec will also hire Good, Fulton & Farrell to design and oversee construction of a parking garage at the Dallas Arboretum. It's part of the $85-million north-end expansion that's also set to include the set-to-open-in-2012 Rory Meyers Children's Adventure Garden, itself a $50-million project due for groundbreaking either by year's end or early 2011. Only mention I've ever seen of a parking garage being part of the expansion is in this council briefing from September '08. Cost of schematics and construction admin: $693,250 in 2003 and 2006 Bond Funds.
Then, after Park and Rec's assistant director Willis Winters briefs the board on the Rochester Park Levee Reconstruction, the board will okee-doke a resolution acknowledging the 100th anniversary of White Rock Lake's completion in 1911. Big things are planned for next year: Park and Rec is also set to begin putting together a White Rock Lake Centennial Host Committee "to plan, coordinate and oversee the events and activities related to the Centennial." Cost: nothing. Yet.
