The scene at last year's Art Conspiracy, a rather frigid affair on W. Commerce Street
Cari Weinberg sends word this morning of two significant developments concerning this year's Art Conspiracy, always an annual highlight. First: After last December's frigid wingding on West Commerce, organizers have opted to move up the date to October -- no specifics yet, just October.

But before that can happen, ArtCon needs to raise some operational dough for The Big Event; hence this morning's announcement that the annual SEED fund-raiser will take place July 16 at 7 p.m. at the Sons of Herman Hall, during which ArtCon will auction off clocks created by 30 local artists. Per Weinberg's announcement:
The hands and the plywood have been provided, but each artist has the chance to modify, construct or deconstruct the clocks in the way they'd like. In Art Conspiracy fashion, the clocks will be auctioned off live. The starting bid for each piece is $20.
The Cocky Americans, Jacob Metcalf and Johnny Beauford will also perform. The October event, as always, will serve as a fund-raiser for a local Good Cause; this year, Weinberg says, ArtCon's beneficiary is Today Marks the Beginning, which "uses art to make peace."
