Um, Did You Watch The Good Guys Last Night?

• I absolutely LOVE the show. It's so funny. Plus, we've made a game out of guessing where the locations shots were filmed.

• I love working with this cast and crew, they are so professional and a lot of fun!!

• If you take it seriously, it's a stupid cop show. If you treat it like what it is-a cartoon and a send-up of cop shows-it's fine. The last half hour was much better than the first. Hanks needs to stop channeling his dad from Turner and Hooch. I love Whitford's porn 'stache. And the Hit Man Showdown was classic Tarantino. So yes, I'll watch it again. For now.

• I miss "T.J. Hooker." And the gunshot signaling each scene got old real fast. Having Whitford's character live in an Airstream by the carousel at Fair Park was cute -- too cute. Like having a NY cop live at the base of the Statue of Liberty.

• The show has some promising moments, especially with a seasoned pro like bradley whitford spitting out otherwise terrible lines, but it really needs to finds its footing. Like Robert said, it's hard to gauge a show by the pilot, unless it's an exception, like LOST. Mad Men started off slowly, as well. But, this is no Mad Men. I agree that the show seems too stylized and needs to focus on the writing. Colin Hanks, once he gets more comfortable, has potential to play a great straight man. Right now, it's a hodge podge of absurd, clever, and terrible. Those accents. I mean, WHY???

• I really want this show to work. I honestly believe it has potential. But someone's going to actually have to write scripts for it. You know, dialogue--words for the characters to say during the show. I didn't get out a ledger, but it seemed to me that there were more bullets fired than words spoken. That may be an exaggeration, but not by much. Guns-a-blazin' every other scene is lazy writing, and leaves no opportunity for character development. After the fourth gun battle I tried to convince myself all the shooting was some sort of meta-joke on the genre, from Rockford to Walker, et al.--but sadly, it wasn't. It was just a lightweight, four-page script with way too much gunplay to allow viewers to give a damn about the people doing the shooting. Either this changes quickly and significantly or it'll be a short summer, Charlie Brown.

• I thought it was funny. But I too had a hard time keeping up because I was paying attention to all the background....

• Smoke with Cigarettes. Really slow first half, but love seeing the Angry Dog in the back of a scene!! Hoping they don't keep the horrible accents though. I'll give Matt Nix some credit I thought Burn Notice started out slowly too.

• I loved the pilot. A fun visual whirl with unexpected twists & multi-layered smart humor. Bad guys were particularly colorful and insight into their lives a fresh approach. Didn't mind what has been described as a slow start since it provided background/foundation for future episodes. I do think the show will have better numbers when it moves into it's regular time slot. As someone in the 18-49 demographic, I find it laughable that anyone with a family is sitting down watching TV at 7PM. Half the time we are still stuck in traffic. I think the hour after American Idol would have been a better indicator of viewer potential.

• I liked it! Will watch it again. The DA's accent was so over the top, I just wanted her to shut up and stand there. In fact, that's not a bad idea since she looked pretty cute. Loved the Trans Am. Overall, I laughed, I cried, I learned about life.

• I wanted to like it. The writing wasn't up to the promise of the premise. It's a "rich vein to mine," etc., but I didn't laugh once. I'll probably tune in now and again just to say, <i>Hey! That's Ross Avenue!</i> or what-have-you. Because I'm a provincial goofball, is the reason why.

• Pretty predictable plot, characters and situations. Other than that it wasn't horrible. Ha! There just wasn't anything new or interesting about it, except that it was shot and takes place in Dallas. i'm nonplussed that Fox bought 20 eps already. They must have some awesome twists in store for us this summer. Perhaps they'll do an ep where they bust up a swingers club *cough* Cherry Pit *cough* or they turn out to be vampires.

• It was campy but ok. It needs to be tightened up either with the editing or script. For instance, Whitford's character demanded to stay on the case but was kicked off and then in the next scene they are at the crime scene and he's barf scheming. Like the captain couldn't see thru that ruse? I'm a Burn Notice fan too but I don't think it stands up thus far. That said I'll watch the second episode now that they're over trying to hard to establish the characters.

• I concur with the "slow start" comments. But I think that is to be expected with the pilot for a new show. That said, I liked it and am looking forward to more episodes. My only question is: would I have liked this show without (what I call) the "Prison Break" factor? I wasn't a fan of Prison Break until I happened to walk right through the middle of a Season 2 episode taping at Urban Market. I had to know more about the show after that and I eagerly awaited each new episode to see if I could recognize the filming location. But when the last season went to LA, my interest feigned a bit.

• My wife and I tried watching it. After 20 minutes we turned off the TV because of how boring the charters were.

• Agree completely with Kelly about the DA's accent. Ridiculous. But I thought Bradley did a decent job of pulling off a Dallas accent -- very subtle with just a hint of twang.

• It seems very "stylized" to me. Meaning the producers don't need it to based completely in reality. I'm a Burn Notice fan and it was similar in that respect. They don't want the cops to competely act/dress like real cops. The don't want the criminals to competely act/dress like real criminals. Reality is for documentaries. Scripted shows are supposed to be escapism. I liked it. Which likely means it'll be cancelled. One more thing... seeing he Hanks kid playing a detective in a suit... Can't tell you how many times I happily reminisced about the movie Dragnet from 1987.

• Not bad for a network show, put in a season pass on my Tivo for it. Kind of like the goofy feel of the thing but the writing was really predictable. It would be great if they got some writers from Arrested Development.

• I checked UnFair Park last night expecting to see you live-blogging the episode. It did have some laugh out loud moments, but is he supposed to be a drunk Rockford?

• I liked it overall, but, um, yeah, I'm pretty sick of how bad the fake southern accents are on so many shows. That DA chick was practically unlistenable. She sounded like a reject from the screen-test pile of Justified from FX.

• I am sure the Trans Am driving, don't care about the rules, drinking problem equipped cop will been as too big of a stretch to be a real Texan with the folks on the coasts. But watching Tom Hank's son made me wonder what happened to all the VHS copies of <i>Turner and Hootch</i>!

• I had a hard time following the plot... probably because I was too caught up in seeing where they were filming each scene.

• I agree. The last 30 minutes were better than the first 30. Overall, I liked it, and it was even better the more I drank.

• James, I'm with you on the slow start -- and it's that last half that leads me to believe those on the inside who say the show really picks up with the second episode, when Hanks's character loosens up. Hence the reason I never like origin stories.

• I watched last night. I thought it started VERY slowly. The last 30 minutes were quite a bit better than the first 30. It had some pretty funny moments- and sort of reminded me of Walker Texas Ranger (with the Mexican bad guys). The other issue I had, and this is just a time of year issue- but I typically like to watch shows that are current with the seasons. You could certainly tell it was Dallas in the winter. I think this show will grow on people!
