The Revival of the Revival House: Texas Theatre to Start Showing Movies Again Next Week

• Quoting Palmer from <i>The Thing</i>, regarding your decision to ditch for <i>STII</i>: "You gotta be fuckin' kidding..."

• The better question, Paul, is where <em>didn't</em> I see STII.

• Another factor that makes "Blood Simple" more Noir than, say "L. A. Confidential" is its independent-low budget nature like all the great Noir of the 40s and 50s. Robert, where did you go see "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan?" I worked at the old Loews Park Central when it was out.

• There's no specific reason for these particular films other than we think they're cool. We will be considering all requests for things that folks around the area want to see so don't be shy about letting us know. It is a given though that everyone won't like everything we show. It's just the nature of a thing like this. You can still show up, have some drinks and check out the place.

• The last great noir was "L.A. Confidential", followed closely behind by "The Last Seduction".Then "Chinatown". Switch the order if you like (I did chronological latest-past), but those are noir greatness. Everything else, 80s-now, to me, is noir-wannabe.

• Ahh, Kearkh. Steel ahlaihve, my old freeend . . .

• No one loves John Carpenter films more than I do, but honestly, I would've ditched The Thing to see Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan myself. I preferred Escape From New York and They Live to The Thing. Heck, I preferred Prince of Darkness to The Thing, and Prince of Darkness was a stinker. (Any film with Alice Cooper has to be really lousy. It's an unwritten law.)

• Very exciting news! BLOOD SIMPLE is a hands-down classic however you wanna categorize it. So Dreamy, so creepy, so Texas... I am rather surprised to hear Mr. Wilonsky wasn't an initial fan of J. Carpenter's super-chilly remake of THE THING.

• I dunno, Lacey. I kinda love <em>Blood Simple</em> -- the last great noir.

• Blood Simple seems a bit of a red herring to me. Nothing canonical about it, other than how s-l-o-w it goes. Why these film choices specifically? Did it say on the release?
