For Your Weekend Listening Pleasure: The Cure Disintegrate at Starplex in September '89

• First saw The Cure when they were headliners touring with The Paul Collins Beat. I was a big fan of The Nerves (pre Beat) and The Beat and until then, had never heard The Cure's music. I saw promotional posters in stores, but that was about it. It seemed strange to put two acts on the bill who sounded and looked completely different, however it worked. Fans of The Cure enjoyed the British rock/power pop simplicity of The Beat and The Cure fans enjoyed their Brit rock/Shoegaze sound. The fact that both groups were so musically different gave them a credibility of partnership for that tour. The Cure had an amazing drummer and this album "Disintegrate" is proof. This album was equal or better than any of their previous efforts at the time, although it is considered to be less successful in terms of sales. To this day, The Cure continue to get support from a loyal cult following and will likely do so for the next few decades.

• Any idea why we haven't seen a Burton/Depp biopic for this band? I mean talk about <i><b>a natural . . .</b></i>

• Being of an age that I was at an earlier show at Bronco Bowl (bow heads), I don't understand paying $18.99 for a download. When the ipod poops out, what happens to the music? I still have those circular black things and this rotating platter contraption that sucks the sound up and spits it out through little boxes attached by wires. Oh crap, I officially just turned into my parents.
