KTCK's Mike Bacsik Learns the Hard Way Not to Tweet While Under the Influence

Update: Mike Bacsik was fired by station management Tuesday afternoon.

This just in from KTCK-AM -- you know, The Ticket: Mike Bacsik, the former footnote in baseball history who became Norm Hitzges's producer-slash-co-host and weekend show host, has been suspended by the station. Why come? Well, for tweeting nine little words last night that the former Washington Nationals pitcher has since deleted from his Twitter account -- a remark that nonetheless lives on over on a San Antonio Express-News blog. During Mavs-Spurs, Bacsik tweeted, "Congrats to all the dirty Mexicans in San Antonio." See for yourself. But station management also wasn't happy with the other comments preserved in Dominique Garcia's screenshot -- like, oh, the one about "If I get cancer and I'm going to die I will blow NBA offices."

Before news of the suspension came down, The Sporting News said he's just another cautionary tale. And he has since posted an apology for his remarks -- "I'm sorry for my horribly insensitive tweet last night about the Hispanic comm. in San Antonio. I apologize and I hope u can forgive me." -- but it's too little too late for Cumulus management. This is the official release that just came over the transom:
Radio station KTCK in Dallas has suspended the employment of KTCK producer, talk host and former major league pitcher Mike Bacsik in response to comments he made on his personal Twitter account following San Antonio's win over Dallas last night. With regard to the suspension, KTCK and Cumulus Vice President and Market Manager Dan Bennett said, "Mike Bacsik's comments were unacceptable and offensive, and are inconsistent with the core values of KTCK and Cumulus. We have made the decision to suspend Mr. Bacsik with the hope that he will take this time to consider the insensitive and hurtful nature of his comments."
