Only in Arlington: Manny Pacquiao Saved His Biggest Hits for Post-Fight Concert

Manny Pacquiao landed 246 of his punches Saturday night, and most of his high notes.

Manny Pacquiao double-booked himself Saturday night, and while he may have had a bigger audience at Cowboys Stadium for his 12-round decision over Joshua Clottey, he spent more time onstage at his post-fight concert in the Ballpark in Arlington's Diamond Club.

Pacman's getting mixed reviews in the boxing world (like Gigli, unwatchable) over the less-than-thrilling defense of his WBO welterweight championship, but when he launched into "La Bamba" shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday morning, no one in the room could deny he's a superstar.

Of course, the night kicked off on that stage with a prayer first for a Pacquiao victory, then for peace in the Philippines, the two wishes repeatedly uttered side by side as though one might lead to the other. (Given his political ambitions, Pacquiao might be inclined to agree.)

Journey lead singer Arnel Pineda and Filipino singer Lito Camo were among the guests who joined Pacquiao onstage. Miss Teen Asian-American Texas even welcomed the fighter with a rendition of "Eye of the Tiger."

Pacquiao kept his shades on through the hour-long performance, exuding rock-star cool whether in a black cowboy hat or white argyle sweater, though he stuck mostly to ballads. He even played a few numbers on an acoustic guitar.

After his opening number got the crowd going, Pacquiao drew heavily from Filipino karaoke songbook staples, and even reprised the George Benson's "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love for You," which he sang for Jimmy Kimmel earlier this month.
