• Again, where White Rock creek spills into the lake is approximately ten miles from what would have been downtown in 1909. Sally Rodriguez knows her stuff, I wouldn't question semantics.

• Trust me those of us in Lakewood like to stay in a two or three mile radius so we know our distances. I once saw an ad for a home in Lakewood: "Within 10 minutes of any place worth going". Ray Hubbard lived on Lakewood Blvd - a pother on the eponym?

• Since White Rock Lake is only about 3 miles from the center of Downtown, i'm not sure where the 10 mile comment comes from.

• Lakewooder, Just guessing, but I bet White Rock was ten miles outside the city in 1909.

• I really like these old pictures of Dallas. I remember a place i worked on Harry Hines had a picture of their building from back in the 50's or 60's, can't remember exactly, and no matter how many times i looked at it, it was always amazing to see that there was next to nothing around it at the time.
