Maybe You Can Help the City Decide How to Spend $3 Million in Trinity Bond Money

• The idea that those could be built for $1M each is completely absurd, especially when the city is involved. To put things in perspective, that hideous thing they built at the corner of Cedar Springs and Oak lawn apparently cost over $220,000 to build.

• Looks like something an intern architect sketched up for Christmas card contest. Honestly, who even approved the funding to pay someone to come up with this ridiculous idea? There's your story, Robert! See if you can find out which nitwit authorized/approved/requested funding for someone to design this. Unbelievable. I don't have anything positive to offer, however, Ben has laid out some great options.

• What's with the lighted artwork here? Anyone seen those horrible tacky lighted sculptures in downtown fart worth? These are almost as bad.

• These look a little like the spires guiding visitors along Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard in Scottsdale, Arizona. http://joeorman.shutterace.com/Bizarre/Bizarre_Wrightspire.html They also look beautiful illuminated from within at night. I'm not sure we'd be guiding visitors to the likes of Taliesin West...but hey...at least we've gotten a famous bridge out of Santiago Calatrava...er...we might get it eventually...just like the rest of this dead dream of a project.

• Maybe we can pay the Dallas County Commissioners $600,000 each to get the hell out of the county. This would boost morale, productivity, and race relations immensely in Dallas.

• Anything that doesn't need watering, cleaning, or maintenance.

• The money should be used to buy more land. I read the PDF and the other options make little sense compared to buying land. Buy the area north of Loop 12 off Elam Road. It actually has some trees and was never used as a city landfill. I do not think Sleepy Hollow would be a good location for a picnic area. I think the residents of Joppa already use a park in their own neighborhood for events. In addition a better place for amenities would be on the south side of Loop 12 at the Boat Ramp parking lot. A gazebo or something overlooking McCommas Bluff from the opposite bank would be another. I have been to these places numerous times over the last summer and feel that "art" gateways for these projects would be a waste. Cue the concrete cows!

• Can they just redirect it and help cover next year's budget deficit?

• Thank goodness the Convention Center Hotel will be here to handle all the visitors traveling to Dallas to see the Calatrava Bridge and the Trinity Beacon's. Lack of vision on the part of those against the Convention Center Hotel.
