If Nothing Else, It'll Be An Amazing Race For Dallas County Precinct 5 Constable

Four years ago we were writing about the race for Dallas County Precinct 5 constable: Mike Dupree v. Jaime Cortes. Ah, the good ol' days; how things have .... changed? Now, it's Jaime Cortes v. a handful of comers looking to snatch away his job, which he only got after Dallas County Commissioners appointed him to replace Dupree, who resigned in June 2007 after years of allegations and investigations. Cortes, of course, has his own dark cloud now -- criminal and civil investigations stemming from an ever-lengthing laundry list of allegations.

Among the contenders to take Cortes's gig: Mike Orozco, a current deputy constable in Precinct 3 -- who, according to Kevin Krause, is also the co-owner of apartment-security firm Archer Consultants with Precinct 5 deputy constable Leo Armendariz, who also owns Encore Ultra Lounge on Lower Greenville. Orozco actually worked as a deputy constable in Precinct 5 from '97 till '07 and served under Dupree. Orozco just sent an e-mail directing us to check out his Web site. And, while there, we noticed the following caveat: "Orozco has not served in Precinct 5 under embattled Constable Jaime Cortes and is not included in the ongoing county and criminal investigations currently taking place." You know who else is running in Precinct 5? Sam's buddy, Chief Ozumba Lnuk-X.

Ok here's the low down, jaime a.k.a (boss)is facing fed charges but still wants to be re-elected. beth does not have the police experience in comparison to jaime or mike, but makes up for it in administrative leadership.what's that? yeah sure she has dpd officers sheriff deputies and even deputy constables backing her but won't it be hard entering the office and facing someone who always looks at you as if they want to bury you alive? mike has been suspended from work, write-ups galore, under investigation at work for stealing and now bailiffing, which we like to call spoiled step child behavior. We all know that if your boss throws you into court doing bailiff work, it means he's trying to get rid of you. "why mike why"? Then theres's ozumba who only God knows what he was thinking in the first place by running when he hates cops.We here in pct 5 would like to know who will be our next boss. This flopping back and forth at the water cooler on do we support beth or now mike has got to stop.make up your minds and stick with it.Remember gang, we along with the commissioners asked mike to come and step in before they appointed jaime in 2007. Have you forgotten what he told us then? he basically told us to eat crow and the commissioners had no other choice but to appoint jaime. Now mike wants in?Keep in mind gang,one of these will be our next boss. So can either of these people really prevail against the Cortes/John wiley price goon squad, or will the goons get 50.5 percent in the primary and skate by? and don't put down too many signs cause I'm sure the goons will be taking them up in the wee hours of the morning like they always do.

Richard, you forgot to include Michael's website link in the article. - http://www.mikeorozco.com As to the issues with Armendariz, considering what's going on in Cortes's office, this would be a step up and then some... at least the number of cars being towed and crushed by Cortes etc would drop significantly.
