• I know - you know - and everyone else knows that every single day-decisions are made in Dallas and they are not all straight across the board--exceptions are made and ammendments are added--but they ARE made---however Woodard Paint and body is over as of March---and you have had 2 years to do something with Ross Ave( or so your zoning change said ) and NOT ONE THING HAS BEEN DONE! and to close Woodard's would mean another shut - down building and eye sore for the "Gateway tot the Arts District". i hope all your downtown business men and women and downtown residents are able to find a business to repair and maintain their vehicles - -take you to your job or residence - then pick you upin your repaired vehicle-- or help you all they can to help the customer not ne inconvenienced. Going above and beyond is what Woodard Paint and Body was built on -- CUSTOMER CARE - BOTTOM LINE - IT IS ABOUT THE CUSTOMERS --- you are not only turning Woodard Paint and Body away but many many of your Dallas business men and women and residents. It is so clear how Woodard Paint and Body does not fit into the mold of what you interpret the auto shops on Ross to look like -- no he doesnt have weeds grown up -- cars jacked up everrywhere with oil running down the street -- in fact his cars are all locked up in bays at night - and their is no trash or debrie laying around the property as well and the yard area being cared for in front of the business - not only is the appearance as it should be but he pays his taxes - is in compliance - and in good standing with the fire marshall ---anything you want to throw at him he is a step ahead of you. Mr. Woodard has sacrificed his life for this business as has his sister - uncle and brother i k law - some may say why is he so special he gets special treatment -- it is not that at all -- how about fair treatment because he works non-stop to take care of the Dallas residents as well as the property and businesses appearance. in fact anyone that goes to the extreme Woodard's does deserves the same respect. and i am sure there are other businesses with the same committments -- so why punish them because of a harsh decision to just wipe it all away -- it will not go away - obviously -- just drive down Ross Avenue. Why would Woodard Paint and Body want to re-locate and invest an unbelievable amount of money in another location - with re-locating costs ( it is not like you can put it all in a box ) you are talking about expensive intrecate equipment -- ( which Woodards has invested in to stay up on the best as they are on direct-repair programs with many insurance companies -- and you dont just sign up for these their is much that goes into meetingf their standards and requirements ) as well as advertising and all else that goes into a move such as this -- and then Mr. Woodard probably would not live long enough to even pay the note off.--- so your point on the move is what? i know thwe arguement is "well, if we let Woodard stay then we will be flooded with others wanting to do the same" -- i say 'bring em on' --- if you can set requirements to be in business and they meet them ( ex. # of years in business - proof of compliance and paperwork to support all of requirements stated )then they are an asset to the community in providing a reputable service -- i doubt they would be standing in line -- not only does Woodard have this business but they OWN the land the business sits on --- as well as other pieces of land in the downtown area --- and the land the Bryan Place is on was once Woodard Property.! Woodard has agreed to take down his sign -- plant some large oak trees out front -- and any other cosmetic changes they see fit within reason -- but no that is not what they want - the building itself was built by Mr. Woodard - his father - and grandfather with their own hands - they took great pride in this -- how dare you make a mockery of that -- lock the doors and throw away the keys--shame on you!! when they built the business the city had certain guidelines of how many feet from the street and all the other requirements and they did EXACTLY as they were told -- and then now -- its not what they want -- go figure! so many of us were taught to always treat others the way we want to be treated -- is the way this situation handled the way you want the city to be perceived -- well i guess so --seeing how yall are suppose to be the example--and the message you send is far from that of a city working together -- this behavior is actually that of bullying -- our schools across the nation have put a strong emphasis on bullying -- forcing situations and uncontrollable control -- and here the very leaders of our city take great pride in their act of bullying --maybe one of you could go speak at a school rally on the topic of bullying -- and when a question from the audience is "why are you bullying Woodard Paint and Body?" i can only imagine what would be said -- i now understand why so many are moving out of Dallas and so few moving in --- too much negative -- my advice to any new business in Dallas-- watch your back and good luck -- "YOUR GOING TO NEED IT !!!!!!"
