Some of Sarah Palin's adoring readers wanted to talk politics at the signing table. One woman just wanted to say, "I really like your kimono."

If you're looking for copies of Sarah Palin's Going Rogue: An American Life, you'll be out of luck tonight at Legacy Books in Plano -- they're all sold out after the author's signing session for hundreds of supporters this afternoon. Our photographer Danny Fulgencio compared the scene to a line-up for a Six Flags ride, with the line to meet the would-be VP candidate snaking through the store and back outside. "It was like organized chaos," Danny says, noting that the scene didn't draw any counter-protesters, only fans who no doubt dream of the day she's president of the "real" America.

Tickets for Palin's signing line sold out days ago, though Palin's mom, dad and husband Todd were on hand downstairs to greet fans and sign books for anyone shut out of the main event. As book buyers descended the stairs with three or four signed books in their arms, Legacy ran out of the hardcover just ahead of Palin's 2 p.m. departure.

Sarah Palin's a political star now but she's really just Ollie North without the military service or overturned-on-a-technicality criminal convictions. The first book will sell, she'll hit the lecture circuit, she'll get a talk show, and fewer people every year will give a damn about what made her famous in the first place. The ones that just think she's "hawt" will lose interest as she ages and some younger pol emerges onto the scene. The next book will clog remainder tables across "real America". From there it's a quick slide into product pitching, a few TV drama special appearances (loved you on "JAG", Ollie!), and finally just another talking head on FNC.

It didn't draw any protests because that would mean A)She actually had policies worth protesting, B)Most of us would have lost our jobs taking off work to go to a book store, and C)Nobody actually protests against picture books. That'd be like getting all up in arms over Curious George.
President Palin... has a nice sound to it.

You didn't realize this after her repeated attempts to get the media's attention (via social networking and press releases) at all costs just so she could bitch about the media covering her life? All credit to her for taking someone's advice and cashing in while she still can. But that still doesn't make her any good at being a <em>politician</em>.

What I found interesting about her stay in Dallas is that she stayed at the Crescent along with celebrities and Wall Street types who can actually afford it. I guess she is a celebrity now too, but her brand is based on rejecting that lifestyle. I guess the bottom line is that she knows where her support is, but she can always smell the money.
IF there is a God, Palin run and get the the Republican nomination in 2012. It's the best thing that could happen to the Democrat party since the election of 1936. PALIN 2012!!!!

I thought she was good until she abandoned her elected post as governor....she is a quitter and is not deserving of running for anything other than dog catcher!

I don't even know what to say anymore about Sarah Palin. She has been shown to be factually incorrect about substantial amounts of things she says, she is painfully inarticulate, failed to show anything resembling a grasp of knowledge of the economics or policies she supports or doesn't support including abstinence only education with a knocked up daughter raised on it and can't even manage to articulate publications she reads. Palin is not the savor of conservatism, she is rock bottom, and I say that as a wayward conservative.
Who wouldn't hate everything she stands for? Imagine, a woman-- spawn of mere school teachers, never played lacross or polo but basketball of all things. Didn't even try to enter a decent school like Yale to learn from her Bush, Kennedy,and Rockefeller aristo-betters. She waited tables and typed while scumming thru podunk colleges all thru flyover country. Then, to lower herself further, to marry some half-breed union pip-fitter! Honestly, as if the blue collar stigma of the NEA weren't enough --to go into what passes for adult life with a steel-worker What kind of moron would consider such a background as qualification for the marble halls of power? Don't even start with her church and her idiot army brat and the tramp daughters and the defective ... Oh wait. Isn't there a policy of hers to object to, besides?
She's no Hillary Clinton... Thank God.
