An Unsilent Night in Downtown Dallas

As previously announced here on Unfair Park, last night Dallas joined the ranks of cities around the world hosting an Unsilent Night, the holiday performance piece during which a crowd wanders through downtown blasting a pre-recorded soundtrack in unison through boomboxes and speakers. In fact, local artist Gary Brown said the inaugural Dallas walk marked the first time a city's held two walks in the same night -- first a 40-minute stroll down Main Street, then another through the Arts District. The walks began and ended outside Backbeat Cafe in the Mosaic.
Brown led the effort to bring the long-standing New York tradition to Dallas, which joined Denver, London and Berlin as first-timers this holiday season. Turnout for the first walk was relatively small -- about 30, give or take, a far cry from the multitudes seen in New York and San Francisco. (Then again, it's hard to instantly transplant someone else's tradition.) But more than 100 carolers showed for the second rounds. See how it all played out in our video above.
