Maybe they should open an H-E-B in H-E-B? Anyone? Anyone?

well being a grocery professional for more than 15 yrs, my observations:
HEB=Nothing but a win for DFW, more options is always better
Aldi= ever heard of Food Lion..will not be around long
Tom Thumb/Safeway/Randalls=To few and far between
Walmart=yawn..been there done that getting tired of it
Supertarget=refreshing and a upscale alternative to Walmart
United/Market Street=also a refreshing change to the market in DFW, a west Texas favorite here
Kroger=best all around shopping and most likely to be affected by HEB entering the DFW market
Albertsons=lastly on purpose. They are struggling and expect them to be gone from this market in 5 years or less. The new Albertson LLC is running on thin margins and closings store as their volumes shrink. Biggest problem with the big A is their pricing..it is too high and they don't seem to care. Go into any store and look at milk prices; mostly 1.99 per gallonn everywhere NOT at Albertsons they are 2.99 and they proudly have there everday low price sticker on it. Albertson is just an oversized 7/11 that will be leaving the market IF HEB does expand into DFW.

Other than Trader Joes, this is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What do we have to do to get a Trader Joe's in the place?

Now Trader Joe's is something to get excited about! Or at least replace my Alberston's with an HEB...

I think Aldi will do good here. I have been to the stores up in Gary, Indiana. They were clean and very organized. I hope HEB and Aldi makes its mark in Southern Dallas County. Lancaster only has 2 grocery stores, and Desoto has 4. I think Cedar Hill has 4 as well.

Milk I buy is $4.68........$1.99? Hello

Have always been a fan of H-E-B and the Butt family. Even more impressed when I learned they have quietly opposed the machinations of uber-conservative donor Dr. James Leininger. The Butts have quietly donated to more balanced candidates & causes through the years to counter Dr. Leininger's influence.

Again I am all for competition. So come on HEB to Southern Dallas County. Us folk south of 30 and the Trinity like fresh fruit and veggies. Sprouts just opened up a store in Cedar Hill.

Growing up in San Antonio, and going to college in Austin, HEB is as much a part of my DNA as Luby's, but I gotta say, be careful what you wish for, folks.

HEB kills off most every competitor in the market (hello, Wal-Mart), and then, guess what happens with no viable competition. Prices up, quality down, arrogance rampant. If HEB is in this market, goodbye to Albertson's, goodbye to Tom Thumb, goodbye to Kroger, and probably Market Street too, not to mention Aldi. It will be Wal-Mart and HEB splitting the market, and you DO NOT WANT THAT.

I would have been much more excited about this news if I had not discovered the many joys of the Kroger on Mockingbird about 3 years ago, not the least of which include being a mecca for smoking hot SMU chicks (a la the HEB on 45th in Austin).

My first encounter with HEB was as a teenager visiting friends in San Antonio. Somebody mentioned picking up groceries at "H.E. Butts." But I heard it as "Itchy Butts," which is what I've called it (and Central Market) ever since. I'm glad they're coming to the Metromess.

If that is the case, all I can say is: BRING.ON.H-E-B. Albertson's and Tom Thumb are insulting in their prices, and Kroger, while better, falls into that fucking card category. I wouldn't shop at a "club card" store to save myself from starving.

I have had an inside line on H.E.B. coming to Dallas for the last five years. They are coming, but location studies are bogged down as the real estate markets flop around like a dying fish.

I have to take issue with Bob's assertion that once H.E.B. gets market share, they raise prices. People all over Texas love H.E.B. If they used the business practices that Bob suggests, the love wouldn't last. I can go to just about any H.E.B. in the state and pay the same price for a basket of groceries. How is that possible with Bob's conspiracy theory?

love HEB! hope we get one in frisco! it is my favorite place to shop!

They are supposed to have already signed a deal in Burleson. Google it and I'm pretty sure there's an article or two out there on it.
