... a behind-the-scenester was there to capture the whole thing, from pre-game to big finish. Here's the formal how-do, featuring Voice of the Dallas Mavericks Mark Followill introducing Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert (who has "instituted many policies that have dramatically improved the quality of life in Dallas," says the play-by-player), Mavs owner Mark Cuban and a T-Mobile exec; absent is Jerry Jones, whose Terrordome is actually hosting the game. Below, Cuban and Leppert's remarks, during which the mayor notes that Erick Dampier's absence from the ballot is an "effin' joke."
I just don't understand voting for an All-Star team after six games. It's not about rewarding the best players in a given year it's about rewarding the most popular players.
When the Mavericks hosted the All-Star game in 1986, Michael Jordan, who was then in his second season, was voted a starter. The only problem with that was Michael had broken his foot in the second game and had yet to return.
And this guy wants to be the next junior effin' senator from the great state of Texas. Couldn't be worse than Phil Gramm, I suppose.
