Tyrone Ellis's pro basketball career in the U.S. didn't amount to much:
10 pre-season minutes played for the Minnesota Timberwolves in October 2006, during which he didn't score a single point. Also on his resume: a single-season stint, in 2001-'02, in the NBA's D-League, during which his Huntsville Flight went 26-30. In short, there was no reason whatsoever to believe the Dallas native and 1996 Carter High School graduate would ever become a pro baller. And yet, there he was Saturday in
The New York Times: "
Dallas Basketball Player Is Hero in Europe." Why? Read the piece for yourself, then wonder if anyone's yet optioned the movie rights for a sports film starring a
Southern Nazarene University graduate and
Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili set during
the Russia-Georgia War of 2008.
