From Baron James's autobiography on the KDFW-Channel 4 site: "I look forward to years of public service here in the Lone Star State and at FOX 4 to bring you the news stories that matter most to you --- especially good news!" But Uncle Barky comes bearing only bad and wholly inexplicable news today: The Fox affiliate has opted not to renew James's contract, and his last day co-anchoring the 5 and 10 p.m. newscasts with Clarice Tinsley will be January 17. Which makes no sense. At all.

As Ed notes, James was off the air during the summer following "surgery to remove a growth from his larynx"; he returned two months ago. I left a message on James's office voice mail; maybe he'll call back. I just hope Baron's got on his pink socks today.

Which reminds me: Rebecca Aguilar's suit against Fox4 is set for trial on July 26, 2010. Mark it down.

The only person who knows what they are doing and saying at that station is Sophia Reza. Hopefully she stays out of the studio, she is safe from the others' stupidity.

Gee, I know we're shocked to learn the media world is fickle on a good day and has what I call corporate amnesia on a bad one.

That said: Anyone suspicious that FOX4 is stupid, your cup runneth over! Why the hell would they axe Baron James? From what I've seen, he has been a popular figure in Dallas who has been very visible in charity events...a noteworthy ambassador for his channel 4 to which he has been very loyal.

I don't understand this at all. Baron has the sexiest name of any newscaster in the DFW area, his deep voice gives me the chills, and he is the hotter than Georgia asphalt. That being said, Fox 4 will keep Clarice until she's preserved at the new bodies exhibit in Deep Ellum.

Seeing that Fox4 is home to such over the hill "talent" as Becky "The Angry Talking Saddlebag" Oliver, Heather "Turkey Gobbler" Hays and Laurie Mxyplyzyk, I have to question why Baron is getting the bump. He was about the only talent at that station that had common sense. He was like a god walking amongst mere mortals. He had a voice that could make a wolverine purr and suits so fine they made Sinatra look like a hobo. In other words, Baron James was the balls. I'll personally miss his pimp swagger delivering the news of the day accordingly...

it sucks that Baron got fired due to "saving money". hope you enjoy a ratings decrease at Fox 4, because i hope Belo and CBS and NBC trys to hire Baron to stay in this marker doing the news on 8, 11, or 5, hell even the 33 would hire Baron in a heartbeat if 33's parent company wasn't broke. chances are by the end of next year Baron well ether be in a new TV market or on one of the other channels here in DFW, most likely 8 doing midday news or weekend news.
