Even Better Than the Real Thing

• The only band I remember seeing at Cardi's was Max Webster. They sucked.

• Lots of bands did KZEW 98 cent shows at Cardi's (aka The Bijou) back then. The Pretenders played there, too.

• Not as sleazy as the original Hot Klub, and the friggin' Police played there. I didn't go. It was a few blocks from my house, but I was busy listening to Aerosmith, smoking dirt weed, and watching.....Mannix or something.

• Anonymous, you beat me to it. Yes, Cardi's was so very, very sleazy.

• And of course Feb 1982 was shortly before David Crosby was busted for crack and weapons possession in the dressing room.

• That must've been right about the time they busted David Crosby for freebasing in the dressing room. That club was a shithole!!

• Loved your review...and Rod Dreher's informal one as well. Despite the questionable mix of greatest hits and later misses, the Cowboy Stadium is apparently simply unsuitable for musical arena performances. The cavernous acoustical limitations simply cannot be overcome. The jury is in; from George Strait to the Jonas Bros. to U2, each attempt at a mega-arena thrill-a-thon falls flat in a reverb of audio clutter and scathing reviews. To me, it's sad because, all kidding aside, if music worked there, how cool is it to have that option for musical spectacles? It was also a integral part of how those financing that behemoth were expecting to reap rewards year round from big bucks events. The acoustical issues in Cowboy Stadium simply cannot be overcome. Frankly, that saddens me because no one �wins� when a complex like this falls flat per alternative North Texas usage. But it's probably a great place to see a football game.
