Looks about as cheap and crappy as those new Texas license plates.
Posted On: Tuesday, Oct. 20 2009 @ 4:05PMThese cars ...

... are not very impressed.
Posted On: Tuesday, Oct. 20 2009 @ 4:08PMDefine 'serving'....
B&W is fine but the decals are fugly and wussy looking...
Posted On: Tuesday, Oct. 20 2009 @ 4:11PMBoo on the lack of roof lights, mainly because it makes the cop car much easier to spot as you are speeding down the highway.
Posted On: Tuesday, Oct. 20 2009 @ 4:29PMBTW, did they get one of those guys that airbrushes the t-shirts at the fair to do the blue text?
It looks tacky and cheap with that font and gradient.
Posted On: Tuesday, Oct. 20 2009 @ 4:32PMCame in here to bitch about the crappy blue text, but was unfortunately too late D:
Posted On: Tuesday, Oct. 20 2009 @ 4:34PMThose aren't black & whites... those are black, white & blues. Why in TF did they incorporate the blue?!! I give it a big swing'n a miss. Teeerrrible.
Posted On: Tuesday, Oct. 20 2009 @ 4:35PMYeah but WHO designed these monstrosities?
Yuck... Those gradient fonts, ugh... Talk about moving violations...
Posted On: Tuesday, Oct. 20 2009 @ 4:46PMRIDICULOUSLY UGLY. Not subtle, sleek or decent looking. Looks like a clown car!!!!
Posted On: Tuesday, Oct. 20 2009 @ 4:49PMLets be honest, these cars are WAYYYYY cooler:

Posted On: Tuesday, Oct. 20 2009 @ 4:55PMThe more I look at the font typography the more horrified I am by it. It looks like they used Word Art, except worse.
Not only is it hard to read, it doesn't even make sense for stylistic reasons. This is really embarrassing and whoever picked it has horrible taste.
Posted On: Tuesday, Oct. 20 2009 @ 4:55PMThe blue text would be OK if it said "freeze creep."
As it stands, looks more like the DPD brought to you by your Dallas Mavericks. But you can probably still transport fake drugs in the trunk.
Why does the car need to be used as a redundant billboard?
Posted On: Tuesday, Oct. 20 2009 @ 5:28PMId like a "To Protect And Serve" type of statement on the vehicle, maybe even the city seal on the ride...This thing looks like a stock generic #16 package you see at a suburb police department...
Posted On: Tuesday, Oct. 20 2009 @ 5:30PMI've had a little more time for this to stew on the way home, why on earth would they pick a text that is so illegible, even in ideal conditions? I was kind of joking about the light bar, but I thought the idea here was to increase visibility, this does quite the opposite which is really a horrible idea when you are talking about an emergency response vehicle.
Then on top of the difficult to read text they put "Serving since 1881". It's not a clothing store, it's a police car, who cares how long the agency has existed? It has no significance whatsoever. And why would you add such promoting extraneous text that is actually higher in contrast and easier to read than the important text?
This is absolutely an unmitigated disaster for not just reasons of personal taste but for very important practical reasons. The Dallas police department should be ashamed to display this and they need to fix it before they start rolling it out.
Posted On: Tuesday, Oct. 20 2009 @ 5:42PMft worth police and txdps, the secret service have nice cars
Posted On: Tuesday, Oct. 20 2009 @ 11:20PMI just want to know when we're getting the matte-black mid-80s Tauruses (Tauri?) that Robocop promised us.
But, yeah, that typography is misfortunate. Also, who gives a flip how long they've been serving?
Posted On: Wednesday, Oct. 21 2009 @ 9:01AMAnother thumbs down for the awful fonts. We should have made the cars in pimp pinstripes ala the Mayor.
Posted On: Wednesday, Oct. 21 2009 @ 10:23AMumm, isn't that car illegally parked?
Posted On: Wednesday, Oct. 21 2009 @ 12:36PMand WHY do they put "9-1-1" on the cars? I mean, if you can read that, aren't they already there?
Posted On: Wednesday, Oct. 21 2009 @ 12:38PMThe original proposed text read "Serving up a can of whoop-ass since 1881" but by the time they got all text on there, it was too hard to read. So they shortened it.
Posted On: Wednesday, Oct. 21 2009 @ 1:20PMI know how this works. They opened a police products magazines to one of the companies that sell decals and bought "Option C" in the generic police vehicle graphics package where you get to incorporate your agency's badge. Completely boring and generic.
Posted On: Wednesday, Oct. 21 2009 @ 4:39PMIt's fine....everyone slows down just based on the Black and White alone. hate it when taxi's are black and white.....
Posted On: Wednesday, Oct. 21 2009 @ 9:55PMThey look just like the new UT Southwestern Police cars. No, because UT Southwestern used their much-better looking typography on theirs, as opposed to this fugly mess.
Posted On: Thursday, Oct. 22 2009 @ 6:19AMNot a fan of the car, but those push bars look pretty nice!!! I'd hate to get hit by one of those.
The push guard on the front looks awesome. Just the perfect touch to toughen up a great looking car.
Posted On: Tuesday, Oct. 27 2009 @ 8:52AMWhere is the Protect & Serve logo? Why do we need to know the web address? Doesn't 911 work?
Posted On: Tuesday, Nov. 10 2009 @ 10:36AMI just hope none of those wannabe cops(constables) get any of these cars, this city would be in deeper trouble. These guys ought to be picking up litter & dog crap, well only the ones truly qualified, not many.
