Disney Investment Firm Says Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck Were Elected to TXI Board

• I think it's telling that Shamrock won't get specific abut how TXI hasn't offered it shareholders the same "value" as other cement companies. I don't think they have any examples. It's an excuse for a takeover. TXI is one of only 2 American-owned cement companies left. Everyone else has sold out to foreign firms. One of the directors Shamrock got elected yesterday oversaw the selling of another American-based cement company to a Spanish conglomerate. This is the path TXI is now headed down. Meanwhile, those of us who live downwind of TXI have to hope that new leadership will result in new thinking about the company's awful environemental track record in DFW.

• Not many people research this kind of thing because financial lore is notoriously boring, but look over the history of how Shamrock Holdings makes money: 1.They muscle their way in (as much as the caps will allow). 2.They diss whoever is in charge so that they can get people elected to the board. 3. They make changes and vote on whatever will raise the stock prices long enough to sell at a profit and get out. Longterm health of the company (or employee jobs) is never a consideration. It's a simple business plan, but it's worked for decades. Their epic battle against Polaroid in the late '80's is almost interesting reading! It continues to work today when the enough of the other stockholders of the target (prey) company want to make a quick buck, too. Good luck, TXI.
