Here’s the question(s) I would like asked of the candidates:

Many voters seem to believe that current BOT are more motivated by monetary gain and/or political ambition. If elected, can you guarantee that you will not use your position to financially benefit in any way, either directly or indirectly? Can you guarantee that you will not run for any other political office during your tenure as a BOT?

Are the DISD budgets available for public review prior to BOT approval? If not, do you think they should be? Why or why not? If not, what would you do to change that?

According to the DISD’s Mission Statement (http://www.dallasisd.org/mission.htm):
" We believe our school district must be a model for integrity and fiscal responsibility; therefore we commit to:
Support staff training on the ethical practices and the investigation of all reported ethical issues. Adopt sound legal and fiscal policies governing the management of the district. Require and monitor fiscal controls and hold all staff, vendors and contractors accountable."

Do you feel that the BOT over the last term has lived up to that ideal? Why or why not? If elected, what would you do in the coming term to improve that mission?

The DISD emphasizes preparing every DISD student to enter college upon graduation from High School. Do you believe that college is the best choice for every single graduate of the DISD? Do you believe that every single graduate of the DISD will in fact go to college? Do you believe that the DISD should provide an option for its student to have an option for quality job training rather than college prep? Why or why not?

Questions: Has Edwin Flores receive a campain donation from Jack Lowe and anyone related to Jack Lowe? If so, what was the amount of campaign donations he receive from Jack Lowe or anyone relared to Jack Lowe? Did Edwin Flores talk with Jack Lowe about Jack Lowe's 12-point list? Does he agree with Jack Lowe's 12-point list? Why did Edwin Flores tell the Dallas Morning News Editorial Board that Hinojosa deserve a reprimand for his so-called mistake related to the recent consent agenda scandal only to not take any action towards Hinojosa for his actions taken on that issue?

Good point, JM, because Edwin Flores likes to throw out answers in Spanish.

Since there is no one there to translate the answers into English, he feels superior. It's his way of showing off, slapping back at Americans, and trying to sow divisiveness between English-speakers and Spanish-speakers.

If we provide Spanish translation, we should provide English translation if Edwin starts his Spanish stunt.

He must think Spanish-speakers will simply follow him and vote for him because he speaks Spanish. How insulting.

The state gives DISD hunks of extra money for bilingual education. As usual...follow the money trail.

Other private schools and school districts that use English immersion in the early grades have much better academic success rates than Dallas, but in Dallas, pulling in state money trumps educational efficacy.
