Back in June, Mark Cuban tweeted that the American Airlines Center's scoreboards were due for a high-def makeover over the summer. (Maybe you recall that video sneak peek of "the First and Only 1080 HD Video Scoreboards in the NBA or NHL.") From the looks of this photo graciously provided by Alexander Muse, the deed's been done: Muse was in the AAC this morning and sends word that not only was the center-court scoreboard (with four 18' X 30' screens) being put into place, but also up in the end zones were the promised HD video walls measuring 24' X 72'. But the real question is: How's the sound, which has also been upgraded per the June promise? Because as Jerry Jones has learned, pretty pictures are nice and all, but it ain't easy tweaking the acoustics in a sports venue.

And in other local sports venue news, the great Gerry Fraley writes today on FoxSports.com that Texas Rangers owner Tom Hicks "is going to have a hard time selling a team whose home ballpark needs a roof." Fraley hates the Rangers Ballpark. Hates it.
