The Dallas Aquarium at Fair Park re-opens next year as the DALLAS CHILDREN'S AQUARIUM, not a museum.

Children and families have enjoyed
the Dallas Zoo and the Aquarium for
many years.(I have accompanied
students there many times.)
Council members must stand up
and keep the zoo and aquarium
operating (effectively) and not allow the mayor to decimate city services.

The worst part about this whole deal is how bad they are screwing all the loyal employees who have given their all for the city of Dallas and the zoo for so many years! People have worked for 15, 20 to 25 years expecting to retire soon are getting completely shafted! Other employees have worked for so many years rebuilding some crappy things they had at the zoo with the thought they were also building a great career and stability, are now just offered a CHANCE to REAPPLY for a job they have been doing so well for so many years! Why doesn't someone look into how well the Fort Worth zoo and the Cincinnatti zoo are doing now after this director and other mayors have done the same with those zoos and then tell us how great this really is!?

I thought the Ft. Worth Zoo was the shining beacon that the Dallas Zoo was to emulate. What is wrong with our neighbor to the West?

Houston doesn't seem to have a problem with this model, so what am I missing?

Y'all are probably the same people that have bitched for years about how the City runs the Zoo. Now there is a plan to have it managed much more effectively and have the capability to raise more money and not be a drain on the taxpayers.

It is never good enough, is it? Amazing.

Ive said it for years, the city has ran the zoo into the ground, they should release total control to DZA and allow them to run it properly. Hopefully we then can become a shining example of what a world-class zoo should be, which is a center of research, education and entertainment.

Before any more idiots want to try to comment about anything, you really should do more research than just believing anything you hear on tv and stop taking everything at face value. WAKE UP CALL: Not everything said on tv is the whole truth! So do some more homework defore trying to talk about something you clearly know nothing about! And I did not mean the zoo had built crappy things, but after time things can get bad. I also am very upset about the people at city hall losing their jobs too, especially because of how much money is wasted by the city of Dallas in too many ways to get into on here.Oh by the way, never bitched about the way the city ran the zoo, but do bitch about the way the city runs itself!
