theme music is fantastic. i can only say that the only disappointment i have is there was no fudge.
but it's good to know housing projects are ok as long as they are pretty. breaking news like a champ, that mr. schutze.
Posted On: Friday, Aug. 21 2009 @ 6:01PMI take a bit of an issue with the idea that multi-family housing is inherently less desirable than single family development. Sandra touched on it as far as recreational and security additions but didn't go far enough.
The real problem is not the multi-family development, it is the kind of multi-family development. Sandra always speaks of these multi-family developments as rentals and the single family as ownership. Rentals is the problem in my opinion, not the form of the project. You will find it in even the most expensive apartment buildings in Dallas, renters trash buildings. To be fair, renters trash houses too, it's just the scale isn't as large. Pride of ownership is an incredible thing, why not push for affordable condominiums which is a much more sustainable, low maintenance option while still allowing the pride of ownership instead of ruling out multi-family all together.
Compared to Ms. Crenshaw's passionate, gonzo, semi-literate blog comments, this was way too reasonable and articulate, and much less entertaining.

Amen. She speaks so much more persuasively than she writes. I totally agree with her about the Spring Valley/Park Lane properties. Heck, just look at the apartments that used to be catty-corner from the Medallion Center. Not Timbercreek, the other side of NW Highway, that is. That whole complex got razed and new apartments or condos are going up. Somehow I don't think the developers are aiming at the same groups of renters they had in the old apartments.
I will just add that I'm very disappointed we didn't see Schutze doing the stanky leg dance or whatever it was.
Posted On: Friday, Aug. 21 2009 @ 8:48PMShe's hitting the nail on the head on the other apartment communities at Park Lane, for example. Especially at Park Lane where the PID there only exists to rid the neighborhood of everything that the board of directors don't own so that their own property values increase.
Posted On: Friday, Aug. 21 2009 @ 9:17PMYou know, I've been assuming that Steinke is pronounced 'stinky'; if not, don't tell me, I like reading it that way.
ROB has a good point; Ms Crenshaw is much more entertaining in print...
Posted On: Friday, Aug. 21 2009 @ 10:23PMyes please no derogatory comments about Jews. No other group touts it's own superiority, power and influence while vetching at their own powerlessness, and victimization.
Let's see, how many people know that today is the first day of Ramadan despite the fact that there are as many Muslims in this country as Jews? How many know about Passover coming.
That said, few know that Jews go camping for Purim. I guess that isn't something to beat your chest about like some of the other things.
How many fathers have sexually assaulted their own children in this country? Yet, one story of a Muslim father's misdeeds have been regular headlines at FOX. Yet, when Rabbis traffic organs from Israel to this country, we suppress the story--especially the Rabbi angle.
Boy, I sure hope the poor aggrieved Jews can get a fair shake. They and the poor oppressed White Male. Please, let's help the rich and enfranchised. Their full immersion propaganda campaign is not enough, they need our active support and we shall never dissent.
Posted On: Saturday, Aug. 22 2009 @ 8:50AMLoved the videos--thanks for posting them.
Ms. Crenshaw's perspective really informed me about stuff I would otherwise not care a bit about.
Even the comment from Anon about his/her perception of a double standard when it comes to Jews/Muslims/White Males made me stop and think.
As a public school teacher whose coworkers and students represent a multitude of cultures, races, and religions, I need to be informed like this. I need to hear other people's ideas or I will not be an effective teacher.
Posted On: Saturday, Aug. 22 2009 @ 9:34AMGreat stuff. Some postscript review stuff:
> The next time anyone tries to make Sandra Crenshaw look like a clueless fool, I'm TIVO-ing this hot new series!
> Per conjugating local geo-verbiage: Wincing to see Oak Cliff labeled 'South Dallas'. (Guessing~~~ Oak Lawn/Uptown's gonna be called 'West Dallas' since it's west of East Dallas.)
Ready for Part 2 of the new public access cult series: Sorta Ebony and Semi Ivory Tinkling Keys to the City.
Posted On: Saturday, Aug. 22 2009 @ 11:22AMEchoing previous comments, Sandra seems reasonable, informed and articulate in the video but almost everything I have seen her write comes off as, well, crazy.
Sandra, have you considered taking a writing class? I mean that in the nicest, most constructive way possible. I think you would really benefit from some help in learning to express your feelings and thought process on paper because what I have seen you write comes of completely differently than what I see in this video.
I have to say watching this video has completely changed my view of you and your beliefs and positions. As someone that has taken a keen interest in zoning cases I hope that you keep me in mind when you need help in the future. I can't say that I will agree with and support your position and as such be able to help but keep me in mind because I may be able to help.

Posted On: Saturday, Aug. 22 2009 @ 1:23PMI love the crazy anonymous rants about The Jews when Sandra didn't say anything at all about The Jews, in fact the only thing that was even written about The Jews on this thread is that nobody nobody said nothing about The Jews.
I bet you could title a post simply "The Jews" and write nothing else. And see how long it takes for these brave anonymous posters to head into their lunatic conspiracy rantings.
Posted On: Saturday, Aug. 22 2009 @ 1:30PMAnonymous has a point.
Few people in the US - one of the largest Muslim countries in the world - are aware of how many of the Muslim LGBT community wake up on ice in the bathtub minus a kidney.
Once again anonymous posters have turned an almost reasonable discussion into an occasion for racist rants and hate speech.
If you object to anonymous crazies, cp, sign your full, correct name. Give a good example.
I think Anonymous is just cranky 'cause he's hungry. It was the first day of Ramadan, after all.
Posted On: Saturday, Aug. 22 2009 @ 9:11PMNo problem, Bill Marvel. I stand by what I said: the anonymous crazies will read this word- JEWS- and start ranting idiotic.
Besides, I knew it was Ramadan because my calendar says so. I also know when it's Bastille Day in France, Constitution Day in Denmark and when it's Boxing Day in Canada. So what? Does anyone know when the Hindu religious holiday of Rama Navami is or Vaisakhi is for the Sikhs? Do they go around complaining that nobody knows anything about it? Again, what was the point to that rant and what does it have to do with Sandra and Jim talking about zoning issues in Dallas?
Posted On: Saturday, Aug. 22 2009 @ 10:56PMCasie,
Thanks for stepping out behind those initials.
My complaint is that anonymous posts -- and that's what any post bearing anything less than a full correct name is -- do not further the debate but drive it deeper into the dark territory of rant and hatred.
I am for free, open public debate. There can be no open debate when the debaters cloak their identity. That isn't democracy. That is the faceless shout from a mob.
Well, I don't know that some of these posts reveal hatred as much as stupidity.
Posted On: Sunday, Aug. 23 2009 @ 11:05AMI guess many of this forum's reasers are easily offended. I see the majority of these comments more as humor and poking a little finger in the ribs of some previous commentary and political correctness.
If you make fun of an aggrieved group or persons because of their membership in that group it might be deserving of some criticism. However, to use a little humor to deflate the pompous or point out the folly of some views one might find a little or a lot outrageous makes this whole Observer blog entertaining and informative.
Ms Chenshaw I have read and enjoyed you posts even though it seems your grammar and spelling need checking. Your writing sometimes is less effective as the result of high emotion and impatience. It's not too hard for me to get the gist of what you say and sometimes I wish you would say more.
You occasionally drop hints that you have knowledge of some deviousness we should all know about yet you don't follow through with any substance regarding such.
I too ramble, make typos and screw up my writing but have found using frequent paragraph breaks helps.
What is is with black people and Jews with paragraph breaks anyway?
What a great discussion twix Mr. Schultze and Ms. Crenshaw. Now if Mr. Schutze would just stop diva-ing (ms).
Posted On: Monday, Aug. 24 2009 @ 8:53AMThere can be no open debate when the debaters cloak their identity. Will you still let us hang on to the whole secret ballot thing, O Righteous One?
As for Sandra Crenshaw, this video was a revelation. I pictured an unhinged semiliterate crazy woman. She's none of those things. (Well, she's a woman.)
Seriously, Sandra: Get some sort of writing instruction.
Posted On: Monday, Aug. 24 2009 @ 10:10AMThe ballot is secret. It's between you and your conscience.
The debate is public. It's between you and the rest of us. We'd like to believe that your opinions issue from an actual human being who stands by what he says. But, then, perhaps not.
The guy with the antisemitic rant would almost certainly never have posted that under his real name, but I guarantee you he meant it. People are more candid, not less, when they're anonymous. Also less civil, but there you are.
